Christopher P. Hansen

 

Christopher Peveril Hansen was born on March 22, 1971 in Port Hueneme, CA to Kenneth and Earline Hansen. As a boy, he loved to fish, play Nintendo, and pick on his 4 younger siblings. He strived to be the smartest of them all. He loved to read, everything from the Bible to his mom's entire collection of encyclopedias! His other favorite things to nerd out on are Star Wars, Star Trek, and anything that involves history.

Chris loved to cook, he worked on a fishing boat as a Chef for many months in Alaska. Shortly after that, he found his real passion: framing. He has built and helped remodel houses all over Washington State. His kids will never forget driving around and his random comments of "I built that house"!

He met the love of his life at a Halloween party at the age of 24. He was persistent and consistent in winning Kimberley's heart, even when she gave him a hard time. They got married in June of 1998 after Kendra was born. His biggest accomplishment was giving Kimberley her dream, a heard of children and a horse. Over the next 4 years, they had Payton, Christian, Madison, and Kimberley. 

At home, Chris's goal was to create the perfect playground for his wife and kids. The whole family rode and cared for the various horses he purchased. Pretty Girl, Austin, Trigger and Slick being among the favorites. The pool was up all summer long, and quads always gassed and ready to go. He always reminded visitors to bring their "helmets, boots, and swimming suits" when they came over. After breaking his leg in a snowboarding accident, he went back to the books. He was very proud of his Associates Degree in Business Management from Whatcom Community College. He loved to make new friends and engage in thoughtful, intelligent debates with his teachers and peers.

One thing's for sure, he always had a joke (appropriate or not) ready to get everyone laughing! He LOVED music. There was never a moment he didn't have his Dewalt or Milwaukee radio playing. He loved everything from Mother Love Bone to Uncle Kraker and even Carly Rae Jepsen's Call me Maybe.

Kendra got her strong work ethic and new found love for smoking meats from her dad. He initiated the idea for the family to go in on a Treager for a wedding gift when she got married. Payton will always cherish his neverending support and encouragement to pursue her dreams. He encouraged Payton to pursue softball, and was at every practice. He was always her biggest fan. His son Christian describes him as his Hero. They spent a lot of time working together on the San Juan Islands, and Chris took pride in knowing he planted the seed for his passion into his son. Christian loved to play baseball, and was often taken on adventures to Mariners games through the years. Madison learned how to embrace her quirky and outward personality from her dad. They loved talking smack and playing with snapchat filters together. They have quite a collection of pictures and videos. Kimmie fondly remembers getting her first horse from her dad. They also shared a bond for cooking, and music from the 60s to the 90s.

He is preceded in death by his brother Joel sister Teresa Mae, and step daughter Stephany Vanderwoude. He was survived by wife Kimberley, children Kendra (Jerrod) Bennett, Payton, Christian, Madison, and Kimberley. Granddaughter Mya Vanderwoude. His parents Kenneth and Earline Hansen, brother Dale, sisters Clarissa (Shane) Rosenow and Vivian. Nephews Michael Dykstra and Johnathan Rosenow. Nieces Torrey, Michelle (Michael) Marshall, and Emily Rosenow. Great nieces and and nephews Talib, River, Tenea, and Ryker.

The Celebration of Life will be held at Living Water Fellowship, 4767 Meridian Road, Bellingham, WA 98226 on Saturday, October 7th at 4pm.
