Years later you are still thought of, listened to and missed. One of the greatest intellectuals, your loss is felt as a tragedy. You have and continue to have a profound impact on my life. I wish i had written to you and told you.

May God in His infinite mercy grant you eternal peace in heaven.

We have never needed a voice like that of Christopher Hitchens more than we do now. Enormous shoes that may never be filled. Wish you were still here...

Now Christopher is gone and his memory lives on , we think of him often all the same! He freed me from indoctrination and brought my mind and intellect to a place of knowledge and factual understanding , therefore empowering and freeing me to be brave and courageous in putting forward my understanding of existence on planet earth. Only recently I found him and I was upset and cried on his passing. I am a 64yr old male that feels as if my life had just began when I fond Christopher Hitchens. He was the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow!! Thanks for his short life.

He delivered his talk with elegance and class, unwavering and undetectable on concessions. Full throttle when in control and finishes opponents with paralyzingly wicked blows. You wouldn't want to be on the receptor of those phantom punches. The sarcasm and wit is the only consolation to dowse the heat. I don't know if I want to be like him which he wouldn't like it anyway, I'm sure he would love for me to be a better open thinker! Cheers Mr Hitchens!

I looked up to Mr. Hitchens as a brave, outspoken atheist/secular humanist--someone whom I should like to emulate in that regard, had I otherwise the practical ability in terms of familial and other ties.

Mr. Hitchens' writing was always incisive and precise. Since learning of his illness, I always knew that I should find myself shocked and grieved on the day I should read about his death.

Mr. Hitchens' death was more upsetting to me than I personally had anticipated. Even though I didn't know him personally, I cried when I heard that he had passed away; the news of his death left me with feelings of disbelief and regret for the loss of such a bright light in the atheist/secular humanist community.

I shall miss Mr. Hitchens immensely in terms of the intellectual stimulation his writing provided to modern life generally and to secular society specifically. Personally, in the past six months I've missed, and shall continue to miss, his incisive commentary. His writings are something I've historically tended to turn to at times of intellectual despair and dark nights of the soul.

His legacy shall live on in the recorded and written form.

Christopher had a gigantic intellect and insatiable hunger for truth, logic and reason. All antagonist's were fodder for his masterful debating skills and command of language.

The human species has lost one of it's ever too few real thinkers.

It will take me the rest of my life to appreciate Mr. Hitchens.
I only saw pieces of his speeches, but he was utterly brilliant.
I wish I could have corresponded with him in spite of my being the "American Commoner" that I am.

As a hardcore Christian I came to know Christopher when he debated Christian Apologetic Frank Turek. I'm sorry that he has passed. Wish I could have had the honor of speaking with him before his untimely death... I sincerely appreciate his willingness to debate with Frank Turek and hope that more lively and educational debates about the existence of God occur in the future so that people can hear and consider both sides and then come to their own conclusions... Christopher IS missed and WILL remembered.

Christopher was the most thought provoking writer of our time, and completely irreplaceable. A true master of the English language. The wisdom and insight he attained in his short lifetime was monumental, and I thank him so much for sharing it with the world. As Graydon Carter said in his obituary, anyone who has read him felt as if they knew him and we are fortunate for the experience. His death is thus keenly felt by people all over the world, but at least we have a lifetime of his writing and argument. His mind & his writing was truly impressive, but also his work, he did not just write from a safe office somewhere in the west, he went to the places about which he wrote, he did the work, he earned the right to his point of view and he was fearless in prosecuting his opinion. I did not always agree with him but always loved the experience of seeing or reading him. Christopher's dignity and resolution in the face of the illness that claimed him, was truly inspirational.

I discovered Christopher Hitchens 10 years ago and have been reading all he has written, and watching all his debates since that time. I believe that he is simply irreplaceable. The world will be a lesser place without him.

Christopher, thank you so much for being a voice of reason. I truly hope that the flames you fanned in the name of reason will continue to spread.

I loved your words, your thoughtfulness, your fighting spirit, your love of your friends, your epic battle against religious fraud, your passions, your writings. What a magnificent man. What a huge loss for mankind.

Christopher, although you will never read this, perhaps members of your family will and it may give them some comfort.

Farewell my friend

Christopher I discovered you way too late, my fault entirely, but you gave me a wonderful 2 years of reading and listening to your life's work. Thank you, I shall continue (although nowhere near so eloquently) to pass on your rational, common sense approach to explaining how we arrived on the planet, believers beware!

thank you for being born and for speaking out. I admire Voltaire, Blake, Jefferson, Paine, Yeats and you. I have read everything you wrote. My grief at the loss of one like you and the void you leave, feels like it will stay with me forever. May those of us inspired by your words, continue to fight ignorance.

I remember my first knowledge of Hitch was reading Missionary Position. He changed my life in fundamental and profound ways. I will live and die a wiser and more complete man because of him and his works.

Although my religious views are at odds with Christopher's I shall greatly miss his intelligent articulation of his viewpoint. He will be missed by friends and yes even his adversaries. Farewell my fellow countryman.
