Christopher Hyatt Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Feb. 10 to Feb. 18, 2024.
Christopher Lawrence Hyatt, 59, passed away on January 22, 2024, after a 7-year battle with early-onset Alzheimer's disease. Despite Chris's battle with Alzheimer's, he remained stoic and brave and maintained his wonderful smile and sense of humor until the very end. Chris was extremely kind and possessed one of the biggest hearts you'd ever find. He was funny, generous, and accepting of all. Everyone loved Chris!

Chris was born in Lorain, Ohio on December 5, 1964, to Barbara (nee Hamilton) and Harold Hyatt. Chris grew up in a loving family which also included his older brother, Tom; his maternal great-grandmother; and his much-loved dogs, Bambi and Muchey.

Chris attended Longfellow Junior High and was a 1983 graduate of Lorain High School. Chris graduated from Bowling Green State University in 1987 with a bachelor's degree in business administration and marketing. He was a proud member of the Phi Kappa Tau fraternity and was elected their Social Chairman.

In 1992, Chris settled in Tampa, Florida where he enjoyed many social activities. He hosted pool parties and poker nights with his beloved sheepdog, Maddie, as a favorite co-host. Chris took annual trips with his buddies, The Wolfpack, to baseball stadiums across the country. He played on a national softball league and his team, "Venom," won several national championships landing Chris in their "Field of Dreams" and "Hall of Fame."

In 2015, Chris moved to St. Petersburg to build a house with his life partner Jen. They shared this home with their fur babies Ruby and Simon. Together they battled Alzheimer's and lived life to the fullest despite being struck with this debilitating disease.

Chris is preceded in death by his dad, Harold, and his brother, Tom. He is survived by his mom, Barbara Hyatt and his partner, Jennifer Petta. The family asks that donations be made in Chris's name to the Alzheimer's Association to help others who are diagnosed with this tragic disease in the hopes of someday finding a cure.

Chris was one my favorite people that I have know . We hung out when he first moved to Florida- Before he moved to Tampa we used to go dance every weekend at dive bar near the airport- I think it was called Ricki Lee´s- abd we once went on a fun getaway to Hiltonhead Island - where everyone knew and loved him.
He was an inspiration to me- and will be greatly missed.
