Christopher B. Jones, 64, of Clarks Summit, died at home on Monday morning, following a lengthy illness.

Born in Scranton, the son of the late Attorney Thomas J. Jones and Patricia McHale Jones, he grew up and lived the majority of his life in the Green Ridge Section of Scranton. Chris graduated from Scranton Central High School in 1979 where he played varsity basketball for the Golden Eagles. Following high school, he graduated from St. Francis University, Loretto, Pennsylvania, in 1983. He furthered his education at the University of New Hampshire Franklin Pierce School of Law, Concord, New Hampshire, where he was awarded his juris doctor degree in 1992. Chris was a respected lawyer in private practice in Scranton for many years until health issues and disability brought about his early retirement in 2022. He was a member of Glen Oak Country Club and former member of the Scranton Canoe Club. He enjoyed golf and riding his motorcycles.

He is survived by brothers, attorney Thomas J. Jones, Jr. and his wife, Judy; Mark B. Jones; and Jeffrey S. Jones and wife, Julie, all of Scranton, a niece, Jessica M. Granahan and great nephew, Jax Granahan, his stepchildren, Tyler and Aryssa Hill, many cousins, including, Marjorie Ecker and husband Elliot, and Ev and Bonnie Jones and many close, lifelong friends, including brothers Mike and Tim Wagner and Brian Walsh. The family would like to extent its heartfelt, deep appreciation for another lifelong friend and physician, Joseph P. “Jay” Bannon, MD, for his friendship and dedicated care extended to Chris over the years.

He was predeceased by his parents, attorney Thomas J. and Patricia McHale Jones.

The funeral will be conducted on Saturday, January 24, 2026, with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 9:30 am in St. Paul’s Church, 1510 Penn Avenue, Scranton. The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, January 23, 2026, from 4-7 pm at the Frank M. Regan Funeral Home, 323 William Street, Scranton, and on Saturday at the church, from 8:30 am until time of Mass. Interment will be private for immediate family and friends at Dunmore Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Griffin Pond Animal Shelter, 967 Griffin Pond Rd, South Abington Twp., PA 18411, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
