Christopher John Kontes

Christopher John Kontes 63, of Pocatello, Idaho, passed away on December 1st, 2025, after a hard-fought battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his family and loved ones.
Chris was born May 16th, 1962, in Pocatello, Idaho to John and Thespina Kontes. He grew up in Eastern Idaho where he was baptized in the Assumption Greek Orthodox church and graduated from Highland Senior High School in 1980. He started his first job working at Albertson's in Pocatello and had many great memories from his time there. He then had a career switch to truck driving locally at Action Express and other companies, where he made deliveries throughout Eastern Idaho for 27 years.
Outside of work, Chris found many joys in golfing, fishing, and hunting. He had many fond memories at Highland and Riverside golf courses along with his favorite fishing spots. Chris enjoyed his time of competitive bass fishing along with other recreational activities such as camping with his family and visiting Mesquite, Nevada. His love for the outdoors led him to become an amazing cook where he smoked meat, grilled, and made traditional Greek delicacies. He particularly had a skill to make the best beef ribs you could ever have. He also spent many joyful years volunteering his time supporting church functions such as the Pocatello Greek Festival.
Most important to Chris was his family. He is survived by his wife Trina Kontes. His two son's John and Lyle Kontes and his stepchildren Chanell and David. His loving sister Pamela (Gary) Swan and their children Kerry, Brandon, and Nicholas Swan. As well as many other family members and dear friends who will deeply miss him.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father John and Thespina Kontes and his dogs he cared and loved so much BJ (Lord Baron von Jake) and Tiny.
A viewing will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday December 8th, 2025, at Cornelison Funeral Home followed by a graveside service at Mountain View Cemetery in Pocatello, Idaho.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Blood Cancer United in Chris's honor.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to Teton Cancer Institute, Huntsman's Cancer Institute, Heritage Home Health and Hospice, and many other medical professionals who gave the most compassionate care during this time.
Chris's memory will be cherished forever, and his legacy of laughter, love, and strength will surely be missed by all who had the honor of knowing him.
