Dear Emily and Family,

Chud was a truly special person. He touched me, and many of us at work, on a deep level with his authenticity, warmth, and contagious sense of humor. Every space he joined felt brighter, full of energy, curiosity, and laughter.

I only knew Chud for a couple of years (or less), but always felt like we had been friends for so much longer. We shared many fun "geeking out" moments, diving deep into technical challenges, something Chud had a read gift for; making even the most tedious problems feel engaging and fun!

When I left WSDOT, Chud was one of the few who sent me a gift. I still keep it on my desk in my new office; a daily dad joke calendar that never fails to make me smile. Every time I glance at it, I remember him with a laugh or a giggle.

I am very very sorry for your loss. Knowing how sad and heartbroken I feel, I can only imagine what you are going through. Wishing you peace, strength, and comfort in these difficult times.

Dear Emily & family,
You never saw Chud without his infectious smile and hearty laughter and we also shared a pun or two whenever we had our meetings. Always man of his word and deed!
Your loved one gave so much, touched so many, and will be honored and missed. May his memories be beacons to guide our way out of the darkness into the light of day.
Sharing a pic from one of our remote meetings with him.

In peace

I had the pleasure of working with Chud at the Washington State Department of Transportation. He was a great coworker and friend. Always a smile on his face which put a smile on your own. He had a powerful and enthusiastic energy he always carried with him. It was very apparent how much he loved his family from exchanging stories at work. Emily and kids... I am truly very sorry for your loss. He will be dearly missed by all that knew him.

I met Chud my sophomore year through mutual friends during my sophomore year at BYU. He became like a big brother to me, and I know many others felt the same.

When my brother was coming to BYU and struggling to find housing, he offered his contract (as he was getting married). I will never forget his help in making sure my brother wasn't homeless for his first semester at BYU.

Chud, the world will not be the same place without your unapologetic nerdiness, your sense of humor, and your annual "happy da birthing day" posts ( "merry da birthing day" in my case because of my Christmas birthday).

To Emily and family, you are in my thoughts and prayers. I pray that you will feel peace and comfort during this trying time.

I was a purchaser for the Forest Service and I purchased supplies and services for Chud when he was here in Missoula. He was always nice to work with and helpful personally. He helped me figure out the best option for health insurance during open season one year. I am so sorry for your loss. Sincerely,
