Christopher Michael Matheny

Christopher Michael Matheny, 50, of Herculaneum, MO completed his walk on earth, on Wednesday January 1, 2025, while visiting his family in West Virginia.
Chris was born on Wednesday, December 11, 1974. He was the eldest son of Jerry and Judy Nottingham Matheny of Durbin, WV.
On February 27, 2014, he married the love of his life, Jennifer Lynn Schroer of St. Peters, MO. From their union were born his precious pride and joy daughters, Victoria Nicole Matheny, 10 and Mackenzie Abigail Matheny, 8. Jennifer, Victoria and Mackenzie were his life. He was a wonderful provider for his family. He was so very proud of his Stepson Nichalas James Schroer, 27, of Chicago, IL and considered him his son.
Chris was a Contracting Officer for the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) in St. Louis, MO.
Chris attended Green Bank Elementary/Middle School and graduated from Pocahontas County High School in 1993. He graduated cum laude from Shephard University in 1997 with a degree in Sport Management.
Other than his wife, daughters, Stepson and parents, Chris is survived by his brother Patrick and wife Valerie and his niece Riley of Mechanicsville, MD; Nichalas' wife Jackie and baby Schroer, due in the spring, which would have made Chris a grandpa.
Also surviving are his Mother-in-law Sandy Schroer; Sister-in-law Kimberly Schroer, both of St. Peters, MO. Jennifer's Grandmother Helen Schroer and her Aunt Phyllis Schroer, both of St. Charles, MO. Chris is survived by many Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and a host of friends.
Chris will be remembered for his kind heart and infectious smile that would light up a room. Chris was an exceptional human being who will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Chris at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday January 21, 2025, at the Durbin United Methodist Church with Pastors Mike Cardinal and Donnie Curry officiating.
