Christopher McManus Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ruck Towson Funeral Home, Inc. on Nov. 19, 2025.
Christopher James McManus, 61, of Freeland, passed away November 16th, 2025 surrounded by loved ones following a brave and hard-fought battle with cancer.

Chris was born on June 28th, 1964 in Baltimore, Maryland to Jerome and Dolores McManus. Chris graduated Perry Hall High School in 1982 and studied Sociology at Towson State University, earning his degree in 1986. He took the LSAT with the intention of earning a JD from the University of Baltimore but his talent was quickly noticed by T. Rowe Price, where his entrepreneurial spirit was fostered. His time there led him to found MK Consulting Inc. where he relished the success and satisfaction that only hard work can bring.

Over the course of his marriages, Chris' caring heart brought families together. He was a tender father to his own children, Victoria and Grayson, and to his dearly-held stepchildren, Robin, Meredith, and Trevor.

Chris loved to spend his summer days on sun-soaked Maryland beaches with his family, feel the wind on his face astride a motorcycle, and enjoyed the utility and precision of a reliable spatula. He took great pleasure in exploring the sights and culture of a new city, and never balked at the price of the best meal in town if he could share it with a loved one. Throughout his youth he played lacrosse; as a father coached Grayson's lacrosse team for many years. Each Sunday Chris lent his coaching expertise and athletic experience to any home or watering-hole television airing the Ravens' Game. If you're reading this Flacco, Chris would like you to "get rid of the ball!"

He is survived by his daughter Victoria Eve, his son Grayson Bain, and his siblings Jerome 'Bud' (Anne), Susan Goldsborough (Charles), Mary Theresa 'Terry' McManus-Baumbach, Mary Elizabeth 'Marybeth' King (Paul), Laurie Kathleen Meyers (Neal), and Kerry Patricia McManus-Marconi (Rob), his stepchildren: Robin, Meredith, and Trevor, and many beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother Dolores, father Jerome, and brother Michael, and brother-in-law Michael.

A viewing will be held at Ruck Funeral Home, 1050 York Road, Towson on Thursday, November 20th, with visitation from 2-4PM and 6-8PM. A funeral Mass will take place the following day, Friday, November 21st at 10:30AM at St. Mark Catholic Church, 30 Melvin Avenue, Catonsville. Flowers may be sent to Ruck Funeral Home, 1050 York Road, Towson.

I had the great privilege of working with Chris for 15 years at Laureate and then at Adtalem. His honesty, thoughtfulness, and quick wit made him a pleasure to work with. He brought a human touch to every project we worked on together. I will miss him greatly.
