Christopher Moore Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 21, 2007.
Frankie Smith, a retired school secretary who was close to Christopher Moore, said the soldier had a humorous side and liked to joke with her. Just before he graduated, Smith said, Moore and a friend tried to "trash can" her, a prank in which a person is forcibly put in a trash can. Smith said Moore''s attempt was unsuccessful, causing just about everyone at school to break into fits of laughter. When Moore would come to visit, Smith said, he''d humorously suggest that he''d try it again. "Every time I would see him, he''d say, ''I''m going to trash can you someday,''" Smith said. Moore, 28, of Alpaugh, Calif., was killed May 19 by a roadside bomb in Baghdad. He was a 1996 high school graduate and was assigned to Fort Hood. He was on his second tour. Moore excelled in academics and passed all his required classes a year early, allowing him to graduate his junior year. He is survived by three daughters who live with his ex-wife in Texas, where he is buried. "We want him to be there with his daughters," said his mother, Martha Moore. "When they get older and realize what happened to their daddy, they can see him."

Hello,

We wanted you to know that we will be honoring and remembering your loved one this holiday season. We are sending Care Packages to our deployed troops in his name. Each package will carry the name, photo, service branch, rank and hometown of Christopher Moore US Army Staff Sergeant.

We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community, their families, friends and many others who support our mission.

We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you safe and strong.

Sincerely,

It was truly an honor to serve next to you in Iraq during our first tour there. I always remember how you always had a memorial bracelet and now I have one to remember you by. I am glad to have known you and hope and wish nothing but the best for your family and your girls. I am sure they know how much you loved them and miss them. Till we meet again... SGT Rodriguez

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.

The Wind on The Downs

“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”

(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )

Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….

“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”

I did not know Christopher, but I am remembering
his service. He is my hero. !

The Other Side

i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.

can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.

i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side

the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

Dear Chris: The Honor Quilt Ministry in Clovis Ca., recognizes the hero in you who gave your life to give all of us the liberties that we take for granted. We will always remember you in our hearts and minds. Our prayer is that God will give some measure of peace to your family. The Honor Quilt Ministry is wanting to present your parents with an American Flag quilt to show our honor and respect. From what I have read about you, Chris, you were one heck of a guy, a wonderful father and a friend to your community. You made your family very proud.
I hope Chris' parents contact me so I know where to mail Chris' quilt.

If this person can stand in battle to ensure my freedom, then I will stand in grief with his/her family to honor him/her. For every fallen HERO there is a bright star that shines in the evening sky to remind us of the cherished gift we were given – even if for too short a time.
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courageous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guest book for the rest of my life, but I promised Le Ron A. Wilson (a dear friend KIA 7/6/07, 18yrs old) that neither he nor any like him would be forgotten and so I will continue until the day there is no longer the need.

“Soldier”
Written to Honor the Service of Our Fallen Soldiers

Soldiers write history…they pay the price
Many miles distant, you live the life
Entered the Battle of our own free will
Out of Duty for Country, and we’d do it still

We hope and pray that all will find peace
In God, in the flag, in memories of valor
Gone now, our pride and courage you see
“An Army of One” our motto forever

Willing to risk all for love of our Brothers
We’re still Your Soldiers…and we showed the way
Our Lives too short, now pray for the others
Lived free died Heroes in lands far away

Deep within souls all cherished our Service
We’ll always have what some never know
Courage and Honor, our names forever
Lived life with purpose…just our time to go

We march in the Heavens with Honor and Glory
Missions accomplished we fought the Good Fight
Many years from now…we’ll tell the full story
Until that Day we will live in the Light

Our lives we laid down in a land far away
Still watching o’er you this night and by day
No need to talk…just know we are with you
There in your hearts and we hear what you pray

Yes we are your soldiers
Our lives we laid down
Still We guard o’er you
Still Duty bound

Entered the Battle of our own free will
Out of Duty for Country, and we’d do it still
We’ll always have what some never know
Lived life with purpose…it was our time to go

To the family of Christopher Moore, I can feel the pain you are experiencing right now. My son PFC Travis Haslip was also one of the fallen soldiers with him on that fateful day. There are no words I can express to help with the deep pain you are now going through. But I just wanted you to know you are not alone at this terrible time, as much as we wish we were and no one else would have to experience such a loss this great.

To my cousin Chris. Thank you for guiding me through my military career and showing me what it means to be an NCO. I love you with all my heart and look forward to the time that we meet again. As you know I am heading back to Iraq in July, I pray that you guide me and my soldiers as I am deployed. Thank you for everything that you have done for me. Godspeed Chris.

For each soldier that has fallen so that many may stand
We honor their spirit as they pass to God’s hand

For without their sacrifice we would live forever in fear
We pray for their loved ones and provide a salute and a tear

God help us heal the wounds of hate and the misery of war
That is our gift to our fallen heroes that are amongst us no more.

It is with the deepest sadness that I ask the family and friends of this brave young Soldier to accept the offer of my most sincere and heart felt condolences. I hope that you know that your loss is shared and mourned by millions of Americans. Most of whom you don’t know and in all probability will never meet. We sincerely appreciate the sacrifices made by your patriot.

Freedom is not free; it is paid for by our heroes, and for those who fight for it, Freedom has a flavor the protected will never know! This soldier made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.

WE MUST NEVER FORGET!!

I know the pain parents feel when they loose a child. I lost a son 19 years ago. It is a pain that defies description. It is a pain that never goes away. It is a pain that will never end. It is a pain that is all consuming.

I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

May God Bless and keep you today, tomorrow and forever!

Rest in Peace brave soldier; you did your duty with great honor, dedication, distinction and in the highest traditions of our great country.

As this war goes on it pains me to sign another fallen soldier's page. My son SPC Harry (Buck) Winkler was killed on November 12, 2006, I know all too well the pain the parents are going through. I stand ready with sincere invitation that if I can help emotionally in any way please contact me. I don't know the name of this great soldier but I do know the pain that you each face. May God protect the Parents, Spouses and Families of all our fallen soldiers and Bless them with His healing love as only He can. Please contact me at anytime. I'm here as a mother who understands the grief you too endure. Debbi

Our thoughts and prayers are with you. May you find comfort in the loving embrace of our Heavenly Father.
