Christopher M. Slupczewski
"Loving father, fiancé, son, brother & uncle"
Christopher M. Slupczewski, 52, of Bethlehem, passed away unexpectedly due to complications from a stroke on August 27, 2025, with his loving family by his side. Known for his big heart and unwavering devotion to those he loved, Chris left an unforgettable mark on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
Born on October 2, 1972, in Waterbury to Stanley Slupczewski and Carol (Slupczewski) Womelsdorf, Chris grew up with a natural gift for connecting with others. He never missed a chance to strike up a conversation-whether with friends, family, coworkers, or complete strangers-and he had the rare ability to make people feel seen and heard. Chris was a man who found joy in the simple things in life: time with family, the outdoors, and long conversations that could fill a room. He especially loved going to the beach with his family and rarely missed a weekend near the water, where his love for kayaking and his pursuit of catching his next big fish never faded. Chris was happiest when he was outside, 4-wheeling on trails, working on a project in the garage, casting a line, or enjoying the warmth of summer. He often said he could do without the winters, but summer was his season.
Above all else, Chris was dedicated to his immediate family. He cherished time spent with them, never hesitating to lend a hand, share advice, or simply enjoy their company. He especially treasured his years with his fiancée, Theresa "Teri" Schutte, whom he adored for more than 16 years.
For many years, Chris served as an Emergency Medical Technician, most notably with AMR Ambulance of Waterbury and the Bethlehem Ambulance Association. His compassion, quick wit, and professionalism touched countless lives in moments of crisis. More recently, he worked as a safety specialist at SKF USA in Winsted, where his coworkers knew him as both dependable and kind.
Chris lived his life with passion, humor, and generosity. Even in his passing, as an organ donor, he continued his lifelong legacy of giving and service. He will be remembered not only for what he did, but for the way he lived-with love, laughter, and an open heart.
He is survived by his father, Stanley, and stepmother, Lorraine, mother, Carol and stepfather, Ed, of Oakville; his fiancée, Teri Schutte of Bethlehem; his children, Elizabeth "Libby" Palmer of Oakville and Ayden Slupczewski of Bethlehem; and his stepdaughter, Rachael Hungerford of Bethlehem. He also leaves behind his sisters, Heather Pentino and husband Fran of Southbury, Carolyn DaSilva and husband Matthew of Middlebury, and Lindsay Slupczewski of Oakville; nieces and nephews, Kenny, Payton, Colton, Harper, and Molly; and his in-laws, Ken and Ellen Schutte of Southbury and Denise Schutte of Middlebury.
