Christopher Joseph Smith Jr., 92, of Moriches, New York, passed away peacefully and with all our love on April 19, 2025. Born on May 18, 1932 in Richmond Hill, Chris was a devoted husband to the late Helen Boyle Smith and a loving father to Lorraine Maclaren (Don Maclaren), Christopher Smith III, (Cynthia Smith), Thomas Smith (Gayle Smith), Diane Gallipoli (Ralph Gallipoli) and Kevin Smith (Julie Smith).
Dad was hard-working and dedicated. He spent 50+ years working as a plumber for the Plumbers Union- Local 200 where he was known for his incredible work ethic, beautiful smile and fun-loving personality. Despite his many responsibilities, he always made time for his family.
Though Dad may not have liked being the center of attention, he deserves to have his long years of fatherly love honored. He was a man of integrity, kindness, generosity, and he left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him. He was a loving, doting husband and a father like no other. His family was his everything.
Dad's hobbies and interests helped define who he was. He enjoyed spending time with his beautiful wife of almost 70 years, supervising construction projects, going to his grandchildren’s sporting events and he was an avid fisherman. He was a member of the prestigious Tinker Fishing Club and was President of the Club until he retired from it. His love for family was something he shared with his children, leaving a mark on us that will never fade.
He is survived by his five children and their spouses and his grandchildren, Ryan Smith, Stacey Smith, Michael Smith (Alyssa Smith), Nicholas Gallipoli (Kimberly Gallipoli), Kevin Smith, Kayla Smith, Thomas Smith, Duncan Maclaren, and Katlyn Maclaren and his great-grandchildren Rosalia Gallipoli, Nicholas Gallipoli, Sophie Smith and Max Smith as well as many friends and extended family members who will miss him dearly.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 23, 2025 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at Moloney- Sinnicksons Funeral Home in Center Moriches. A mass will be held at St. John the Evangelist Church in Center Moriches on Thursday, April 24 at 9:30am followed by a burial service at Calverton National Cemetery in Wading River.
We find comfort in knowing that Dad is with our Mom and that his legacy lives on through the lessons he taught us, the love he shared, and the memories we will cherish forever.
