Christopher Topa Obituary
Chris was born & raised in Michigan City, Indiana, and was a 1987, graduate of Elston Senior High School in Michigan City. He was raised in the Queen of All Saints Catholic Church in Michigan City. In school he was very athletic, playing basketball & baseball. He was voted the most valuable player in junior high in basketball. He enjoyed playing softball after high school and loved to watch college sports, especially Florida State & the Chicago Bulls. He enjoyed fishing whit his step father. He resided in Vevay to be near his mother for six and a half years, until moving to Virginia Beach in September 2002. He was a member of the Sorrowful Mother of God Catholic Church in Vevay. He was currently working as an auto detailer in Virginia Beach. He will be sadly missed by his family & friends.
Chris will be remembered by his loving daughter: Heather Nicole Topa of Vevay; his loving son: Cody Christopher-John Topa of Virginia Beach, VA; his heartbroken mother & step father: Toni & John Kniola of Vevay; his loving father & step mother: Ronald & June Topa of Virginia Beach, VA; his step brothers: Michael & Christian Yadavia both of Michigan City, IN; his maternal grandmother: Evelyn Griswold of Michigan City, IN; his loving uncles & aunts: Joe Topa of Michigan City; Mathew & Erica Griswold of Madison, IN; Nicholas & Toni Griswold of LaPorte, IN; Jerry & Mary Beth Woldford of Chesterton, IN; Charles Harper of Michigan City, IN-a close friend who cared for Chris; several nieces, nephews, cousins & other relatives. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather: John C. Griswold in 1999; his paternal grandparents: Joseph & Rose Topa.

Hi Toni. May God grant you great strength during your time of bereavement. I can still remember Chris coming into the NIPSCO office, that little boy, then growing into that young man. I couldn't believe it when I head about Chris. I played basketball at Queens with him. Chris was a great guy. I seen him a few times over the years and he was always really nice to me. My prayers are with you.

I was shocked to hear of Chris' death. Chris and I were classmates at Queen's and baseball and basketball teammates. I am so saddened by his passing. I will be keeping the entire Topa family in my prayers.
