First some background information. My Uncle Charles, Christopher's father, was the beloved older brother of my mother Angela. My mother worshiped Charles as he was a wonderful influence and help to his parents, brothers, and sisters. Their time was filled with adversity... the Great Depression, World War II, the death of their sister Agnes, and Charles helped guide them through it. We looked up to their entire family throughout my childhood.
Christopher was a few years older at Loyola College when I entered and, just as his father helped mentor my mom, he took me under his wing helping to get me started in the Biology Department. I never would have gotton into medical school without his help so I am forever in his debt.
Life is filled with joy and sadness and we can only hope there are more people out there like Christopher, my Uncle Charles and the rest of this wonderful family. We love you all- Roy Bands, Jr
