Obituary published on Legacy.com by Kern Funeral Home on Dec. 30, 2025.
It is with deep sadness and yet unshakeable hope, that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, brother, uncle and friend, Christopher Winslow. He entered eternal glory on December 27th, 2025 at the age of 74 in
Mount Vernon, Washington. Chris's life was marked by a deep love for his family, a tireless work ethic, and a steadfast commitment to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Chris died resting in the peace of Christ and his deepest desire was for all to know that same peace.
Christopher Winslow was born on September 17th, 1951 in
Tiburon, CA to David and Kathryn Winslow. The fourth of six children, he grew up in their beautiful family home on San Francisco Bay. He attended Marin Country Day School as a child, and in his teens began attending Shawnigan Lake Boy's School in British Columbia. He went on to attend Amherst College and eventually returned to Shawnigan as a History and English teacher. While at Shawnigan, he came to know Christ as his Savior. He also began his entrepreneurial career and he met his future bride, Margaret Cnossen. The two married August 4th, 1979 in Canada. They built their life together, committing to each other for better or for worse, for richer or poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death do us part.
In 1980, Chris and Margaret moved to Tiburon to support Chris's mother and to develop a family partnership. In the following years, Chris managed that family entity until it was dissolved in 2025. Carrying on some aspects of his father's company, Chris formed his own business selling hardware to boat and window manufacturers on the West Coast. Chris moved his family and his business to Washington in 1984, and he never left. Believing in God's call to be fruitful and multiply, Chris and Margaret joyfully brought 6 children into the world and watched the Lord do his handiwork with the multiplying (25 grandkids and counting!) Chris always said that his children are "his epistles"-- those who live and tell the good news of Jesus Christ from one generation to the next.
Over the years, Chris served the Lord in the church, taking on the roles of deacon and elder. He was quick to stand for the truth, ask the hard questions, and do whatever needed to be done. Always bold, he did not shy away from any task or conversation. In addition to running his own business for 41 years, Chris worked as a developer, real estate investor, landlord, and securities investor, managing his assets and those of many family members and friends. He managed his affairs not only with great care, but also with a relentless competitive drive to do better and be better.
Chris and Margaret went to great lengths to raise their children in the fear and admonition of the Lord. They homeschooled all 6 kids through high school and prepared them well for their college educations and life outside the home. In parenting, Chris was famous for his high standards, his commitment to family devotions every single night, his love for "work parties," and his desire to see his children excel.
Chris will be remembered for his love for music, his flip-phone, freedom, politics, family, hard work and most of all his Savior.
Chris was preceded in death by his parents, David and Kathryn, and his sister, Kathleen. He is survived by his wife Margaret and their six children: his daughter Jennifer (Jeremy Crow) and their children Jaqueline, Judah and Joseph; his daughter Kathryn (Nick Rayes) and their children Isaiah, Joshua, Noah, Samuel, Abigail and Elizabeth; his daughter Elizabeth; his son Alexander (Andrea Camarigg) and grandchildren Lydia, Oliver, Adaline, Charles, Ian and Hazel; his son Jonathan (Kaylin Sheftick) and their children Malachi, Selah, Elias, Aaron, Julia and Daniel; and son David (Rachel Dotinga) and their children Christopher, Hendrik, William and Lily; and his siblings Rebecca, David, Pamela, and Jeffrey; and numerous nephews and nieces.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 3rd at 10 am at Covenant Grace Reformed Church on 1227 Loomis Trail Road, Lynden WA 98264.
