Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cochran Funeral Home - Hackettstown on Feb. 16, 2026.
Christopher William Zavattaro, 63, passed away unexpectedly on February 12, 2026 at home in Hackettstown, NJ.

Chris was born on, May 20, 1962 in Paterson City, NJ and was the son of the late Joseph Zavattaro and Gertrude (Janner) Zavattaro. He was the second oldest of four children. He has an older sister, Diane and two younger brothers, Joseph Jr and Mark. They were raised in West Paterson, NJ. Chris attended Passaic Valley High School in Little Falls as well as Montclair State University.

Chris loved talking to people which took him down the path of sales. He spent many years doing outside sales but most of his career was inside sales which he was able to do from home.

Chris was a lover of sports, specifically football. He could tell you any football statistic that was out there, regardless of team but his favorite team was the New York Giants. He never wavered from that, regardless of their record. In September, he was able to attend a live Giants game at MetLife Stadium. It brought him great joy to be there in person. Chris enjoyed playing tennis, basketball and bocce ball. He loved to cook, enjoyed being outside doing yard work and going for long walks. He was an avid reader who enjoyed true crime stories with James Patterson being his favorite author. He enjoyed traveling, loved vacations in Myrtle Beach every summer and was a lover of cruises, his favorite cruise was to Alaska.

Chris is survived by his devoted wife, Lisa (Rhines), his son Alec and wife Allie; his step-daughters, Amber Armstrong and husband Ty and Ashlie Armstrong and wife Jennifer. He was a beloved grandfather to Sean, Jordan, Reid, Dillon, Reese and Zhuri. Being a grandfather was one of his greatest joys. He also leaves behind several nephews and a niece. He also leaves behind his fur-baby, Peyton who meant the world to him. He will be missed so much by all who knew and loved him.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 18 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and 7:00pm to 9:00pm at Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ.
