Native Washingtonian missing you more each day! Thought time would ease the pain, but it hasn't. I'm so thankful I rarely missed a show & have fabulous photos.....I actually have a concert pic from the day party at LOVE of your shoes! I'll never forget, you came over to me & said "you have pretty hair,pretty lady. I almost passed out! & thank you for the awesome performance at President Obama's inaugural ball. It's been a year today, and it still seems like just yesterday. You are adored, loved, respected, and missed by so many. You will forever be in my heart.

Mr. Chuck Brown, I sure do miss you. When I hear your music, It just make me feel so good inside and put a big smile on my face. You will always be in my heart. PS. You remind me so much of my uncle. RIP much LOVE!!

I guess now that the shock is over we're left to deal with the realness of how your passing has changed our lives.

Truth is some of us will thrive but some won't. Not because you didn't teach us but because you were our strength your words of encouragement kept some of us afloat.....

See thats a gift we Browns have; the ability to encourage, elevate and love one another. We protect one another and we share in the success of our loved ones because we know where we came from and thank God for where we're going.

Even when you were'nt around we knew that you would be dissapointed if we strayed into the path of distruction because you worked so hard to show us that there was life.....a good life to be had if we prayed for it and worked hard. You were the patriarch of our family. Our head.

You were transparent for us so we could see the real you. You shared your ups and downs. You told us about the many days you had to do without the basics but, through the grace of God you made it.......

Now it's our turn. Our time to grow and shine in the profound legacy you've left for us. Not just the legacy of music but one of strength, character and love.

We love and miss you Uncle, especially me because you encouraged me so much....my dad, you and the family made me so proud to be a Brown and I just pray that I excell not because of who I am but because of whose I am.

God is first with us Browns, we haven't forgotten and we never will.

It was a surprise and a pleasure to learn that chuck was my 2nd cousin. We spoke several times over the phone, but never got to meet him in person. The Ellerbe's, Moody's, Ponders', & Carraway's family still desire to get together and fellowhsip with his family. Chuck's family is in our prayers and we know his memories will live on forever. I fell in love with Chuck's voice at the age of 11 while listening to Bustin Loose with my mother. I couldn't wait to party with him. Chuck will be missed by his DMV family!! My heart and prayers go out to the Brown family. We will never forget him!!

I remember when I first saw Chuck at New Mount Olive Baptist Church, Ever Sunday Pastor Mitchell will call Chuck Brown to play or sing… when I loss my mom back in 2010 I will listen to her favor song she sung with the Church Can't no body do my like Jesus.

When folks write Chuck Brown was DMV only, they have not a clue. Although from DC, I first partied off the Soul Searches' "We The People" in Atlanta during the early 70s. I was in 8th grade living in a really conservative neighborhood. But no matter how bougy those parents were, in our school and in the driveways of our neighborhood, the radio blasted "We The People" and those kids went crazy!!!! I think "We the People" was one of the first 45s I ever bought. I still remember the record label. Returning home to the parties, college break, visits... always hearing the music EVERYWHERE you went... Great fun and great memories! I lived a lot of places but... ain't nothing like homegrown go-go!!! Thank you Chuck Brown for giving us our musical homebase, especially when we are not home. You have no idea what hearing go-go means when you are not in DC! May God continue to shine on your family and bless each of them richly! RIP Chuck ... and THANK YOU! Chuck Brown is DC, period.

I was 17 when chuck use to practice at a friends house , name boss man he had the block rockin. Chuck brown is truly going to be missed and to the family you had a great DAD. He loved what he did.

I just want to say thank you for being a true inspiration and giving back. I can honestly say from experience that you are a very humble man. My ex-husband and I ran into u at Bennigan's off silver hill rd. back in 96, although he was born and raised in a small town called Dublin, Ga. he immediately recognized u. When we approached u, not only did you sign an autograph but u talked to us for at least 45min, lookin just as cool and smooth as always. I have never forgotten that. I hope u and Lil Benny add a lil flavor to some Marvin Gaye, Luther Vandross, Gerald Levert, and Teddy Pendergrass. I will continue to play Go Go no matter where i am and i will make contributions to your foundation. You are missed and today I finally mastered the Chuck Brown Line Dance. Love u Chuck Brown and give my big sister Kitty a hug. She use to tear it up to your song Run Joe.

First I want to sincerely thank the Brown family for sharing their "invaluable treasure" with us for so many decades! I will proudly proclaim myself to be a "Chuck Brown junkie"!! His music and extremely kind ways were addictive! No one who ever heard his music or had the pleasure of meeting this GIANT, could ever get enough. I like to send my prayer's and condolences to the family Of Chuck Brown. I remember Chuck from the 70's and use to see him often around N.W. and S.E. D.C.I was walking to the store harmonizing and singing with some friends in the band getting ready for a talent show Chuck heard us stopped and listened and said great, but he then told me I was cute and to try a verse this way. I did and for this I am forever grateful. I had the chance to perform with Chuck once back in the day. Such a teacher and giving and loving man. Chuck you will truely be missed. Peace and Love family always.
