Chuck Moon Yee Obituary
Chuck Moon Yee of Newton passed away on July 29, 2024 at the age of 92. He joins his beloved wife, Grace F. Lam-Yee.
The eldest son of the late Sing and Mayna Yee, Chuck was born in Canton, China. During the Korean War Chuck joined the United States Army in 1952 and served his country for two years before being honorably discharged. After marrying Grace in 1964 the couple started their lives together in Boston's Chinatown.
Chuck's success with restaurants and real estate across Massachusetts is a testament to his industriousness and business acumen, although he was always modest and preferred a simple life. He leaves behind a legacy of strong work ethic to his children.
Chuck was good-humored and easy-going. He enjoyed his instant coffee and his Marlboro Lights, which his grandchildren often tried to hide from him to convince him to quit smoking. He was a fierce checkers player, even when his competitors were his own grandchildren.
Chuck was the loving father of Ivan Yee and his wife Mai, Kevin Yee and his wife Karen, Lisa Lee and her husband David, and Sylvia Yee and her husband Will Bickart. He was the adoring grandfather of Kayla Yee and her husband Joseph Hallal, Justin, Carter, Trentin, and Bryce Yee, Tyler and Jennifer Lee, and Nathan and Miles Bickart. They will remember him fondly and miss him dearly.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend traditional Chinese funeral services for Chuck on Saturday, August 3, 2024 between 9:30am and 11:30am at Hamel-Lydon Chapel, 650 Hancock Street, Quincy. The funeral procession will depart at 12 noon, passing first through Boston's Chinatown before arriving at Forest Hills Cemetery, Boston, for interment services.
