Chuck Suppnick Obituary

Chuck Suppnick
Frankfort, MI
04/04/1951 - 07/05/2025

After a wonderful picnic dinner with family and friends at Crystal Lake Beach, Chuck Suppnick passed away unexpectedly on July 5, 2025, at his home in Frankfort, Michigan.
The son of Susan and Frederick Suppnick, Charles William Suppnick was born on April 4, 1951, in Detroit, Michigan. He grew up in Royal Oak, Michigan, and his family spent their summer vacations at Crystal Lake in Frankfort, where he also spent his final years.
Chuck graduated from Central Michigan University in 1973, where he was the photo editor for the university's newspaper. He had a keen eye for shape and design and used his talent to capture evocative images of people and landscapes throughout his life.
After a brief period working as a newspaper photographer in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, Chuck began work at Your Man Tours (YMT) in 1975 as a sales assistant. He eventually became Vice President of Sales and retired from YMT in 2013. YMT's owner, Frank Dupuis, was Chuck's most admired mentor, and they remained best friends for the rest of his life.
Chuck married Cheryl Allen in 1975, and his career took them and their family to Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Cincinnati, and eventually back to the Detroit area.
In retirement, Chuck moved full-time to his vacation home on family property in Frankfort, Michigan, near Crystal Lake, where he met his beloved partner, Annie Sinclair. He spent his final five years at "Papa's Cabin" with Annie and their three cats. Their home radiated warmth and was always filled with meals, friends, and family.
Chuck remained active until his death, pursuing his photography hobby, hiking the trails of the Leelanau Peninsula, and more recently, returning to golf. He also loved to read, watch his favorite television shows, listen to music, and, with Annie, hosted dinner and movie nights at their home. Chuck was consistently selfless in caring for Annie. They spent most of their time together at the cabin and had recently begun traveling to visit family and friends.
Chuck was the patriarch and heart of the extended family - potluck organizer and holiday host. He loved adventuring with his grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with his numerous cousins and nieces and nephews.
Chuck is survived by his son, David Suppnick (Melissa); daughter, Kathryn Wind (Craig); son, Tony Suppnick (Muneera); brother, John Suppnick (Cindy); sisters, Barbara Malasky (Mike) and Carrie Foote (Tom); and grandchildren, Olivia, Michael, William, Jack, Samantha, and Sabrina. He is also survived by a large extended family whom he loved dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents; his dear uncle, William A. Suppnick; and daughter-in-law, Kari Suppnick.
All are welcome to gather at Chuck's memorial at Crystal Lake Township Cemetery, 1511 Pilgrim Hwy, Frankfort, MI 49635, on August 30, 2025, at 2 p.m., rain or shine.
Donations in Chuck's name to the Grand Traverse Regional Land Conservancy, www.gtrlc.org are deeply appreciated.
