Chung Hiltbrand Obituary

Chung-Hsiang Wang Hiltbrand (January 1, 1943 - May 24, 2024)

After a lifetime of dedication and compassion to her family and the Buddhist faith, Chung “Pei-Pei” Hiltbrand passed into the afterlife on May 24, 2024 at the age of 81 in her Aurora home.

Chung was born in Taiwan where she lived with her parents and 5 younger siblings when she met John R. Hiltbrand during his service in the U.S. Navy. They married on April 22, 1971 in Taipei. After the birth of their only child, John J., while serving in Japan, they returned to her husband’s hometown of Aurora, Colorado where they lived out a loving and prosperous life together. Chung was devout in her faith and servitude to the Denver Buddhist Cultural Society where she attended weekly services for over 20 years. She gave generously of her time and energy to the membership including preparing meals and caring for the temple. She participated in multiple trips to California and Taiwan to learn more about Buddhism and further develop her faith. Chung was a loving wife, mother and homemaker who offered their home to family
members from Taiwan during their academic and career journeys. She will be dearly missed and honored by the many people who were lucky to share her presence.

Chung is preceded in death by her husband John R. Hiltbrand, her father Geng Shen Wang and mother Jin-e Yang as well as her brothers Kuang-Hsiung Wang and George Wang. She is survived by her only child, John J. (Katharine) Hiltbrand, grandsons Ronin and Hendrix Hiltbrand, step grandsons Braden and Evan Wormus, her brother David Wang and sisters
Chun-Chiang Wang and Chun-Mei Wang. She will also be missed by her 8 beloved nieces and nephews: Sherry, Amei, Sam, William, April Wang, Yi Chun and Chia-Cheng Lin, and Chia-Chi, Lu along with several close friends.

Memorial services for Chung will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, June 14, 2024 at Horan and McConaty, 11150 E Dartmouth Ave, Aurora, CO 80014. Her final resting place will be next to her husband in Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver.
