Chung Luu Obituary

In Loving Memory of Chung Nguyen Luu

Chung Nguyen Luu, 94, passed away peacefully on December 2 after a courageous battle with cancer. Her life was a testament to resilience, love, and unwavering devotion to family.

Born in Vietnam, she married her beloved husband Quoc Thang Luu in 1949. Together they embarked on a journey to the United States in August 1975, just before the Fall of Saigon. They became the first family in Owego, New York, to be sponsored from Vietnam following the war. This milestone marked the beginning of their American dream. Together, they raised 12 children, building a life rooted in hard work and hope.

She made Minnesota her home after her husband's passing in 2005. She was a gifted cook whose meals brought comfort and joy to all who gathered at her table, and a talented knitter whose creations warmed generations. Determined to embrace her new home, she learned English by watching American soap operas, earned her driver's license, and secured a job to help care for her growing family.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father, husband and one son.

She is survived by 11 of her children and their spouses. Nhan and Ly Luu, Ha and Khanh Nguyen, Thuy Van and Hai Le, Van and Dan Nguyen, Nghia and Diem Luu, Phung and Steve Larson, Le Luu, Tin Luu, Lien Luu and John Dougherty, Hong and John Millard, Kimyen and Wade Howard along with dozens of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and one cherished great-great-grandchild. Her legacy lives on in the love she gave and the strength she inspired.

Her family will forever remember her courage, kindness, and the sacrifices she made to give them a better life.

A public visitation will be held on Monday December 15, 2025 from 11 AM - 12:30 PM at Brooklyn Park Chapel at 7835 Brooklyn Boulevard, Brooklyn Park, MN 55428.
