CINDY MARIE MARSHAUS (nee Messmer) age 64, beloved wife for 37 years of Jim; loving mother of Taylor (wife Meghan), Colin (wife Abby), and Kaitlyn "Katie" Lorton (husband Aaron); cherished daughter of the late Joseph and Marian (nee Cunningham) Messmer; dearest sister of Michael and Thomas Messmer (wife Denise); dear sister-in-law, aunt, great aunt, and friend of many.
Cindy died peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on April 11, 2023. She was born in Elmira, New York on July 10, 1958. She spent her childhood in the Finger Lakes region of upstate New York and graduated from Horseheads High School in 1977 before moving to Ohio to attend Kent State University. She earned her bachelor's degree in education in 1983. Cindy had a long career as an educator, teaching kindergarten and hearing-impaired students. She taught primarily at St. Gregory the Great in South Euclid.
Outside of teaching, Cindy was active in her church, serving as a eucharistic minister at St. Gregory. In her spare time, Cindy enjoyed creating cross-stitch and needlepoint pieces. She was an avid Cleveland sports fan, particularly the Indians, and loved the music of the Beatles. Cindy's loved ones recall her nurturing, kind, caring, and friendly nature; her unwavering devotion to family; and her great sense of humor. She is remembered for her love of God, family, and friends, and for her bright smile. She will be dearly missed by all those who knew her.

Mass of Christian Burial Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at 11AM at St. Dominic Catholic Church, 19000 Van Aken Blvd, Shaker Heights, Ohio 44122. Private burial following at Lake View Cemetery. Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Cindy at THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF SOUTH EUCLID, 4600 MAYFIELD RD. (just east of Green Rd.) MONDAY 4-8 PM.
