Clair Reynolds Obituary

Clair Ralph Reynolds was born March 4, 1939 in Moravia, New York. He was the fourth of six children and the third of four sons of Helen and Ralph Reynolds. One or two years after he was born, his family moved to Kings Ferry, New York, where he attended elementary school and high school. He then worked in manufacturing for National Cash Register Company for about three years in Ithaca, New York.

When Clair was about 22 years of age, he became a member of the United States Air Force. After completing training in Texas, he was assigned to March Air Force Base in Riverside, California, where he worked for three years in telephone maintenance. In 1966, he was assigned to Bien Hoa Air Force Base in Vietnam where he continued to work in telephone maintenance for about one year. He was then transferred to Hill Air Force Base in Utah until he was discharged from the Air Force in 1967.

Clair worked for Hercules Inc. in Clearfield, Utah for 22 years. While living in Clearfield, he joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in 1984.

In 1989, Clair moved to Cache Valley in northern Utah. While working at Presto Products in Preston, Idaho, he met Ann Marie Hawkes. In 1997, Ann and Clair were married and lived in Smithfield, Utah. Clair continued to live in Smithfield for the rest of his life. Clair and Ann enjoyed RVing and spent one year camp hosting in New Mexico.

Ann retired from working at Presto Products in 2003. Clair retired in 2004. When Ann died in 2006, Clair continued to live in the home they had shared until he moved to the Birch Creek Assisted Living Center in Smithfield in February of 2025.

Clair was preceded in death by his parents and three of his siblings. He is survived by his younger sister, Charlotte Reynolds Bancroft, and by his older brother, Lawrence Reynolds, who both live in the state of New York.

For over seven years, Clair suffered from several severe health problems. After having open-heart surgery at the University of Utah Hospital in Salt Lake City, he continued to have regular medical care for his heart. Several years after the surgery, he was diagnosed with cancer for which he received regular medical treatments for the rest of his life. Sincere appreciation is expressed in Clair's behalf to all of the hospitals and medical professionals who have provided such excellent health care services over many years. Special appreciation is expressed to all of the staff of the Gossner Cancer Center in Logan Utah and to Clair's regular personal physician in Logan.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at 1:00 pm at the Smithfield 5th Ward Chapel, 625 E. 600 S. Smithfield, Utah 84335.
