Mrs. Claire L. (Lambert) Bennett of Wells, Maine, formerly of Waltham died Tuesday, January 9, 2024 in York Hospital in York, Maine. She was 91.
Born in Brockton on June 12, 1932, Claire was a Daughter of the late Vivian Beecher Lambert and Leola (Arenburg) Lambert and was a graduate of Arlington High School. She married John R. "Jack" Bennett on February 6, 1951 and together they made Waltham their home. Jack and Claire cherished sixty-three years of marriage together before his passing in 2014.
Claire began her professional career at Robert Hall Clothes in Waltham and later moved on to work at Waltham Supermarket. She initially started as a cashier and later became a bookkeeper doing clerical work in the meat department office. Claire worked at the Waltham Supermarket for twenty-six years and was a Waltham resident for fifty years before retiring to Wells, Maine.
Mrs. Bennett was the wife of the late John R. "Jack" Bennett and is survived by her children, Michael S. Bennett and his wife, Anne, of Chelmsford, David J. Bennett and his wife, Kathleen, of Mineola Florida, Susan L. Page of Bourne, and Catherine A. O'Brien and her husband, John, of Waltham; seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Bennett was the mother of the late Eileen M. Bennett, the mother-in-law of the late Thomas Page, and the sister of the late Herbert Lambert, Thyra Carnes, and Muriel Pellegrini.
Family and friends will honor and remember Claire's life by gathering for calling hours on Wednesday, January 17th, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street, (Rte. 20), Waltham where her Funeral Service will be held at 7 p.m.
Burial will be private.
