Of Weymouth, formerly of Dorchester, died peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on October 8, 2024 after a long illness.
Beloved wife of the late Robert X. Cassell Sr.
Loving mother of Robert X. Cassell Jr. and his wife Emily Cassell of Weymouth, Cheryl-Ann Cassell of Weymouth, Joseph G. and his wife Melisa Cassell of Florida, and the late Mark J. Cassell and Shaun B. “Vinny” Cassell.
Daughter of the late Albert Melanson and Claire (Bradley) Melanson.
Sister of Bobby Melanson, Judy Manley, Joyce Melanson, Dorothy Hutchins, and the late Janet Newman and Joseph Melanson.
Loving “Gram” of Jamie Cassell and his fiancé Sam, Zack Cassell and his fiancé Jessica, Jacqueline and her husband Max Caetano, Kayla Monahan and her fiancé Tyler, Alyssa Lawrence, Joshua Lawrence, Joey Cassell Jr. and his partner Taylor, and the late Christopher Michael “Riff” Dahl.
Devoted “GG” of Audree, Kloee, Max Jr., and Wyatt.
Claire is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will honor and remember Claire’s life by gathering for visiting hours in the Murphy Funeral Home, 1020 Dorchester Avenue, DORCHESTER, on Tuesday, October 15, 2024 from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Immaculate Conception Church, 1203 Commercial Street, Weymouth, on Wednesday morning, October 16, 2024 at 10:30 A.M.
A private interment with her late husband will be held in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Weymouth at a later date.
Claire enjoyed making puzzles, collecting angels, turtles, and frogs, spending time with her family, and spoiling her bulldogs. She was an avid reader and thoroughly enjoyed baking, shopping, and hosting her family for every holiday.
Claire’s family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the nurses and staff at Old Colony Hospice for their compassionate care over the past few months. In lieu of flowers, donations in Claire’s memory may be made to Old Colony Hospice, 321 Manley Street, West Bridgewater, MA 02379.
