Claire Dolorese Farland Johnston, 86, of Portland, Connecticut, passed away peacefully, at a memory care facility, on October 26, 2025. She was a cherished mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and her presence will be deeply missed.
Born February 11, 1939, in Fall River, Massachusetts, Claire enjoyed several jobs throughout her working career. She worked at Midtown Photo on Main Street in Middletown. She later worked as an office manager for Dr. Chiarito's dental office in Cromwell for several years. She ended with a career as a recreational therapy director.
Claire was known for her passion for music, singing in her church choir and her love for karaoke. Claire was also an artist, enjoying painting with oil and acrylics and teaching others to paint. For many years, Claire enjoyed going to the beach, she always adored her many animals and had a great love for her church as an ordained minister. Above all this, she was most passionate for her family.
Claire was predeceased by her parents, Wilfred Farland and Jeanette Farland, as well as her sister, Karen DeForest. Left behind to cherish her memory are her children, Joseph (Butch) Lisitano Jr. and his spouse, Susan Lisitano, Janet Lisitano, Denise Lisitano-Kirk, Sherry Lisitano and her spouse, Jenni Thompson, and Eric Lisitano and his spouse, Linda Nichols. Her memory will also be cherished by her nine grandchildren: Joseph Lisitano III, Stacy Rivera, Natasha Davenport, Taylor Tomassetti, Jordan Beauchemin, Jeremiah Kirk, Christian Kirk, Justin Lisitano, and Emily Lisitano. Claire's ten great-grandchildren: Leonardo, Maya, Jason Jr., Dakota, Eden, Jackson, Emery, James, Malcolm, and Justin Jr., will always keep her memory in their hearts.
A Memorial Service will be held on November 6, 2025, at Shiloh Christian Church, 693 Saybrook Road, Middletown, CT, at 6:00 PM. This will be followed by light refreshments in the church fellowship hall.
