Claire Bertha (Rogers) Sevier Claire Bertha (Rogers) Sevier of Liberty, Missouri, passed away on Monday, September 10, 2007, at Liberty Hospital at the age of 95. Born in Youngsville, North Carolina on December 10, 1911, the third of seven daughters of Abram Otis Rogers and Bertha Susan (Washington) Rogers, Claire attended the University of North Carolina in Greensboro before moving to Kansas City in 1931. Claire worked in the legal department at Kansas City Power and Light Company while attending evening classes at the Kansas City School of Law. Claire was one of only three women in her law school graduating class of 1934. While in law school, Claire met fellow classmate Robert Field Sevier; they were married on December 27, 1934 and were married for 57 years until his death in 1992. Claire was active in many community, church, and social organizations. With her husband, attorney Robert F. Sevier, she was instrumental in founding Concerned Care, Inc., a residential care facility for people with developmental disabilities, and Vocational Services, Inc., a sheltered workshop that employs people with developmental disabilities. Claire was a member of Phi Delta Delta legal sorority, a life member of the Women�s Committee of William Jewell College, a lifelong Democrat, and was a member of the Liberty United Methodist Church for over sixty years. Claire was an excellent bridge player and was active in three bridge clubs. She enjoyed membership at Liberty Hills Country Club, Liberty, Missouri, and at the Garden of the Gods Club in Colorado Springs, Colorado, for many years. Claire is survived by her son, Robert T. Sevier and his wife, Cindy, of Liberty, Missouri; daughter Linda Craig and her husband, Mike, of Osage Beach, Missouri; son, Charles Henry Sevier III, of Kansas City North; grandson John Rogers Sevier, his wife, Carol, and children Mitchell and Madeleine of Liberty, Missouri; granddaughter Susan Sevier Jones and her husband Benjamin, of Liberty, Missouri; granddaughter Sally Ruth Everhart, her husband, Ray, and children Halie, Brandon, and Audrey of Camdenton, Missouri; grandson Matthew Ben Craig and his daughter, Ruth Anne, of Prescott, Arizona; sister Connie Gifford and her husband, Don, of Ballwin, Missouri, and many dear friends. Her Southern grace and charm will be missed by everyone.
