Clanny Joseph Manuel

A Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Clanny Joseph Manuel will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, November 4, 2024, at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, Oberlin, with Father Pradeep Gali officiating. Interment will follow in Manuel Cemetery, Oberlin, under the direction of Rush Funeral Home, Oakdale.
Mr. Manuel, 87, of Oberlin, entered eternal rest on Thursday, October 31, 2024, in his residence surrounded by his loving family.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and nonc-nonc to many. He was a hard worker, holding down as many as three jobs at a time. He claimed to be a cook, but his family knew better; they knew Mrs. Jean was the real cook. Some would say Clanny was a man's man, making, but rarely following rules as he went, "Do as I say, not as I do." He was a farmer, a law enforcement officer, and a heavy equipment operator. He was an avid McNeese Cowboy fan, and a supporter of Oberlin Tiger athletics. He was a staple of the community known by the children for handing out coins and pocking toes. Everyone will miss the "Clanny traffic jam" on the streets of Oberlin.
He was proceeded in death by his loving wife, Jean Manuel; his parents, Alexson and Edna Manuel; one granddaughter, Lanie Brooke Manuel; one great granddaughter, Lainey Katherine Heinen; and fourteen brothers and sisters.
Those left to mourn his loss and cherish his memory include four sons, Scott Manuel (Kristy) of Oberlin, Greg Manuel (Edith) of Oberlin, Boobie Manuel (Jenny) of Oberlin, and Jeremy Manuel (Jayme) of Kinder; one daughter, Dana Hebert (Trampus) of Oberlin; one brother, Joe Manuel of Lafayette; one sis-in-law, Patsy Manuel of Oberlin; fifteen grandchildren; and fifteen great grandchildren.
A time of visitation will be held in the Chapel of Rush Funeral Home, Oberlin, on Monday, November 4, 2024, at 8:00 a.m. until time of departure to the church. A Holy Rosary will be recited at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Rush Funeral Home, Oberlin.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff of Lake Charles Memorial Hospital, Brighton Bridge Hospice, and Mike Manuel.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are: Mike Manuel, Joe "Boo Boo" Manuel, Chris Davis, Allen "Tiny" Langley, Korey Jones, and Steve Durio.
