Mrs. Clara Emily Benjamin, age 87, formerly of Lopez, PA, passed away on Friday, July 5, 2024, at the Highlands Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, in Laporte, PA, with her loving family at her side.
Emily was born May 30, 1937, in Murraytown, Cherry Township, Sullivan County, PA, the daughter of the late William Henry & Virginia Caroline Palmer Hoover.
She married Jan Arland Benjamin of Mildred, PA, on November 27, 1954, and they celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary before his passing on August 2, 1995.
Emily worked at the Endicott Johnson Shoe Mfg. Co. of Mildred, PA, for 35 years, until it closed in 1991.
Emily enjoyed flowers, and having friends and family get togethers. She loved to polka and watch the polka dancing on television, and at Christmas time, she would make halupki for the family.

Her daughter Penny Jean Speary predeceased her on February 2, 2024; also, brothers and brothers-in-law: Earl Benjamin, Joseph Tabor, Victor Stavisky, Thomas Hoover, Lewis Crawford Sr, and James Crawford; and sisters and sisters-in-law: Mary Louise Stavisky, Eva Hoover, Josephine Benjamin Pelot, Arvilla Crawford, and Lela Crawford.
A Funeral Service will be on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at 4:00 PM at the Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore, PA, with Rev. Robert W. Brown, officiating.
Friends and family may call on Saturday afternoon from 3:00 PM until the time of the service at 4:00 PM at the funeral home.
