Clara Thompson Boling, 89, of Magnolia Place and formerly of Old Converse Road, passed away on Tuesday, October 7, 2008, at the Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born August 27, 1919, in Union County, SC, she was the daughter of the late Edward Way and Ellen Elizabeth Inman Boling. She was the wife of the late Charles Alexander Boling. She was first married to the late Ben Caldwell and then to the late John A. Thompson. She was a homemaker and a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church and the Bertie Anthony Sunday School Class. Survivors include a daughter, Cheryl T. Gossett and her husband Bill of Spartanburg; a son, Robbie N. Thompson and his wife Leneice of Spartanburg; a sister, Tommie Rogers of Poplar Springs; a granddaughter, Joy Roberts and her husband Alan (Albo); four grandsons, Craig Thompson and his wife Angela of Camden, Reid Gossett and his wife Tracy, John Gossett and his wife Courtney, and Jeff Thompson, all of Spartanburg; and six great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by brothers and sisters, Arvil, Archie, Norman (Bug), Barth, Rachel, Barry, Ralph, and Ruby. Visitation will be 7:00-9:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 8, 2008, at Floyd�s Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 9, 2008, at Floyd�s Greenlawn Chapel conducted by the Rev. Craig Thompson and the Rev. Keith Davis. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to Zion Hill Baptist Church, 2817 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307; or to the Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home, 686 Jeff Davis Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29303. The family is at the home of her daughter, Cheryl Gossett. A special thank you to the staff at Magnolia Place and Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home for the loving care of our mother.
