Ms. Clara Elizabeth Howard

Ms. Clara Elizabeth Howard, 68, of Peoria, Illinois transitioned to her heavenly home at 9:58 pm on Saturday, June 15, 2024 at Accolade Nursing Home.
Clara was born in Newport, Arkansas to Ernest and Willie Mae (Mitchell) Howard. She attended elementary school and high school in Arkansas. She was a graduate of college in Hot Springs, AR., where she liked playing volleyball and basketball.
Over the years, she held jobs in the technology industry as a keyboard operator at AT&T and Data Processing with IBM in Peoria, IL. She later worked at the Post Office. In her spare time, Clara enjoyed reading, sometimes bowling and cooking, especially her favorite meal, spaghetti.
Clara leaves to cherish her memory her son, Louie Howard of Peoria, IL; two grandchildren, Asia and Brian Baldwin; four sisters, Ernestine ("Louie") Watkins and Myrtle Stevenson both of Peoria, IL Alice Hardin of Hawthorne, CA and Bettye Howard of Newport, AR; a special nephew, Larry Riddle of Peoria, IL and a host of other nephews, nieces and other relatives who adored her. She is preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Octavia Howard and two brothers, Louis and James Howard and three sisters; Helen Clark, Ruth Howard and Willie B. Doss.
Funeral services will be held at 10 am on Saturday, June 29, 2024 at Simons Mortuary with a visitation one hour prior beginning at 9 am. Elder Ralph White, Associate Minister at Church of the Living God of Peoria, will officiate. Clara will be laid to rest at Lutheran Cemetery.
