Clara Karen Obituary
Mrs. Karen was a professional nurse of over 40 years where she cared for, showed compassion for, and treasured each and every life that she touched.
Being a native New Yorker, she never lost her accent or her attitude. Her feistiness came out along with her temper as she saw fit. Her profound love for anything written on a printed page or clipping was her trademark. Her ability to read several books at the same time and then describe the story of each was remarkable. Her goal was to someday write that all American novel.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, George; her daughter, Cathy Sunden (John); son, Edward Shanley; and several cherished relatives and friends.
Survivors include her "first born", Debrah Ryan (Steve); sister, Jerlean Hall (Bob); three grandchildren, Jennifer Cornelius (Brian), John Hendrickson (Jasmine), and Tyson Hendrickson; two great-grandchildren, Alyssa Hendrickson and Kaitlyn Hendrickson; and several nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank with heartfelt appreciation all of the loyal friends who spend time with our "mom" listening to her stories (often, many times), antidotes, visiting, and supplying moral support, care, and concern. She will be missed.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday afternoon, prior to the service, beginning at 12:00 PM.
