Clara Nell Morisette, 93, passed away on Monday, June 3, 2024, at her daughters home in Camden, TN. Visitation will be on Saturday, June 8 from 10 am until Service time at 3 pm. Oakdale Funeral Home in Camden will be in charge of arrangements. Brother Jarrett Glosson will be officiating services with burial to follow in Flatwoods Cemetery. Clara Nell was born November 13, 1930, in Benton County to the late Willie and Nellie Pafford Melton.
She was a Baptist by faith. After 21 years with The Benton County Board of Education she retired as a cafeteria worker. Clara Nell belonged to several community organizations including, The Retired Senior Volunteer Program, Benton County Senior Center, Genealogical Society and Friends of Nathan Bedford State Park. She spent several hours volunteering at various places and received several certificates and awards. Two of her most cherished awards were The Five Star Governors Award and A Lifetime Achievement Award. She was also instrumental in the group that located abandoned cemeteries, cleaned them and erected signs.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Morisette; two brothers, Howard Wayne Melton of Cherokee, AL and Harley Melton of Camden, TN; a sister-in-law, JoAnn Melton of Cherokee, AL; also, a friend and companion, J.D. Riley of Camden, TN.
Clara Nell is survived by two daughters, Brenda (Joe) Blackburn of Sharon, TN and Janet (Jimmy) Bullion of Camden, TN; three grandchildren, Marla Glosson of Sharon, TN, Jarrett (Autumn) Glosson of Ft. Myers, FL, and Ronnie (Bridgett) Bullion of Camden, TN; four great grandchildren, Hailey Glosson, Laci Benson, Tristin Bullion, and Maribeth Murphy Bullion; two great great grandsons, Taylin Benson and KMari Jordan; a sister-in-law, Mary Melton of Texas; one niece, Christy (David) Price; and two nephews, Richard (Ina) Melton and Jonathan Melton.
