AIKEN, SC - Clara Virginia Yarbrough, 82, died on Thursday, January 26, at Aiken Regional Medical Center from complications of an illness. Clara Virginia Bright was born on March 27, 1940, to the late Clarence “Bill” Green and Ercel Faye (Bright) Green in Webster Springs WV. Clara was employed by DOE as an Administrative Secretary at SRS for 28 years. She very much enjoyed working in her yard and loved her Australian Shepard “Susie” and all cats and dogs. She loved watching birds from her kitchen window and listening to bluegrass music. She is preceded in death by her youngest son Joseph “Joe” Clevenger and her late husband Thurman Charles “Charlie” Yarbrough. She was preceded in death by 3 brothers: Leonard Lowther, Carl Green and Delmer Green. She is survived by her son Mike Clevenger of New Ellenton and daughter Debra Townsend of North Augusta. Surviving siblings are Lester and Edsil Green of Wayne County, Ohio, Jeannie Letner of Medina County Ohio, and Paul and Larry Green and Frances Lynch of Webster Springs WV. Clara leaves behind 4 grandchildren, Andrea Clevenger Sprague and one great-grandson, Brody of Jackson, Ohio, Amber Townsend of New Port Beach CA, Ashley Townsend of Long Creek SC, and Nicholas Clevenger of New Ellenton. A graveside funeral service will be held 10:00 AM Wednesday, February 1, 2023 at Southlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service. In lieu of flowers please consider monetary donations to the Albrecht Center for Animal Welfare, 199 Willow Run Rd, Aiken, SC 29801.
