Clare Evelyn Wiles, age 87, passed away on February 24, 2026, in Littleton, Colorado.
Born and raised in Hastings, Minnesota, Clare earned a Bachelor of Arts in Music from the College of Saint Catherine. It was during this time that she met the love of her life, her husband Jerry. Together they built a life filled with music, travel, curiosity, and family while raising their three sons.
Music was a constant throughout Clare’s life. She joined choir at a young age and continued singing for decades. Clare could play nearly any instrument and excelled at piano, violin, and organ. Many music programs were made possible through her direction and talent. She was also an educator, teaching in schools and giving private music lessons, sharing her love of music with generations of students.
Clare traveled the world with her husband, visiting six continents and embracing the opportunity to learn about different cultures. She spoke several languages and impressed people everywhere with her ability to communicate wherever she went. Over the years she and Jerry lived in New York, Los Angeles, Minnesota, London, Brussels, Hong Kong, and Colorado, creating a life rich with experiences and friendships across the globe.
Clare was a lifelong reader who loved classic literature, though mysteries were always her favorite. She had a curious mind and a deep appreciation for learning.
She loved animals deeply. Her dogs were precious to her and truly members of the family, bringing her great comfort and companionship.
Clare was a keen observer of the world around her. She noticed beauty in many things, especially in nature, and enjoyed watching people and trying to understand what made them who they were. Those who knew her appreciated her intelligence, her quiet wit, and her ability to see the world from many perspectives.
Clare is survived by her three sons, Marc, Stephen, and Jeremy, and her grandchildren, Matthew and Mary. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jerry Wiles, and by her parents, Linnae and Clara Kilbride.
A private Celebration of Life will be held for the family.
