Clarence Eugene Obituary

Clarence Scott Eugene, Jr. entered into eternal rest on Sunday, July 28, 2024, in New Orleans, LA at the age of 76. Beloved son of the late Clarence S. And Ruby W. Eugene, Clarence served a faithful and loving God through his Catholic upbringing, worshipping in several Parishes, including Holy Ghost Catholic Church and St. Mary of The Angels Catholic Church. He was a man who TRULY loved God. Clarence was a proud 1965 graduate of Walter L. Cohn High School and earned his bachelor's degree from Southern University of New Orleans in 1971. Clarence retired as First Sergeant ("TOP") of the 337th Medical Company after a 30-year career that also included serving in the Vietnam War. Clarence retired from LSU Health Care Services Division, serving over 2 decades in the accounting department. He was a proud MAN and 40 year member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., holding several leadership positions including being named Treasurer Emeritus of the Sigma Lambda Chapter after decades of service. He was recognized as the driving force behind the fraternity's participation and partnership in JazzFest. Clarence is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Janice Marie Condall Eugene; children: Michelle I. Eugene, Lesley E. Thomas (Keith), Clarence, III (Rhea), William; stepchildren: Ebanie Lewis and Benjamin Lewis; grandchildren: Kylee S. Thomas, Cayson Raymond Scott Eugene, and Makayla Lewis; siblings: Alphonse (Estelle), Terry E. Clark of Gonzales, LA, Clifford (Pamela), Karen E. Burton, Gail Eugene, David (Patricia), Barry (Gail), and Mary E. Harris; in-laws: Deborah Dyson (Herman), Clarence Condall, Jr. (Demetria), Victoria Cosse (Darryl), and Gregory Condall; and, preceded in death by siblings: the late Onester E. Evans, LaRue P. Eugene, Tracey A. Eugene; and brothers-in-law: Joseph (Chuck) Harris and Dean R. Clark. He will be celebrated by a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives; his work family at LSU Health Care Services Division in New Orleans and Baton Rouge; friends, military brethren; and, those MEN and his BROTHERS of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., especially and most lovingly his Sigma Lambda brothers. Services will be held on Saturday, August 3, 2024, at Rhodes Funeral Home, 3933 Washington Avenue, beginning with visitation from 9:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., followed by the Alpha Phi Alpha Omega Services at 9:30 a.m., and funeral services beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment will take place on Monday, August 5, 2024, 9:30 a.m. SHARP at the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, 34888 Grantham College Dr, Slidell, LA 70460.
