Clarence Eull Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Peterson Chapel – St. Michael on May 29, 2024.
February 18, 1932 – May 27, 2024
Clarence R. Eull, age 92, of St. Michael, Minnesota, passed away on Monday, May 27th, 2024, when his life came full circle, passing in the very home he was born in.
Clarence was born on the original Eull homestead February 18, 1932, in Frankfort Township, Wright County, Minnesota, the son of Jacob and Catherine (Wey) Eull.
As a young boy, he was responsible at an early age for helping on the family farm and working with the draft horse teams for fieldwork, tending to the dairy herds, and in his mid-teens, began transitioning the farm to the first tractors and powered equipment. Clarence had an exceptional mechanical aptitude and was a natural at adopting and implementing updates and improvements around the farm throughout the years.
In 1952, Clarence was drafted into the U.S. Army to serve in the Korean War. He had basic training at Fort Lewis, WA, and was then selected for NCO school for engineering in the 9th U.S. Corps in Korea, and later assigned to serve in the 194th Engineering Battalion in Korea's Chorwon Valley until 1955, when he returned home. His fellow Army buddies remained near and dear to him throughout his life, as was his honor in serving the Nation.
On June 6, 1961, Clarence and Mary Ann Steichen were married at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Pearl Lake, Minnesota. Their marriage was blessed with 4 children. Clarence was very active in the farming community and in various agricultural associations such as the National Farmers Organization. He raised crops and produced Grade A Guernsey milk from his dairy herd for 30 years. In 1988, the dairy herd was sold, and Clarence became a certified real property appraiser, dedicated to this work for another 30 years.
Clarence was also involved in many organizations, such as the American Legion Post 567, where he served as commander, service officer, and led the honor guard for many years. Other organizations included volunteering for the Minneapolis and St. Cloud VA Hospitals, the St. Michael Catholic Church, and charity events in and around the Twin Cities. An additional hobby was his love of draft horses, of which he had several teams throughout the years entering the teams in local parades and the annual Camp Courage Wagon Train. Other areas of interest were woodworking and constructing scale models of horse-drawn farm implements with harnessed teams of horses. The culmination of his craftsmanship included building the scale model of the historic St. Michael Catholic Church. Clarence was widely known for his friendly nature, his ability to befriend complete strangers, and his love of getting to know people. He was a prolific advocate for many social justice issues, such as the Wright County Food for Life organization, and was always concerned for helping the less fortunate and underprivileged. Most everyone who met Clarence considered him a friend.
Foremost, Clarence was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather: he cherished being involved with his family and continuously expressed his love for them in many ways. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years-Mary Ann; children-Susan (John) Grancorvitz of Hudson, WI, Timothy (Tina) Eull of Buffalo, Thomas (Jane) Eull of Rochester, and Nancy (Brian) Kopff of Monticello; twelve grandchildren-Leah, Savannah, Isaiah, Tori, Mitchell, Tessa, Joseph, Frankie, Brooke, Sommer, Faith, and Sawyer; thirteen great-grandchildren; sibling-Helen Peloquin of St. Michael, and sisters-in-law Marjorie Eull of St. Michael, Aggie Steichen of Waite Park, Jeannette Steichen of St. Joseph, and Kathy Steichen of Kimball, 44 nieces and nephews, and many friends.
Preceded in death by his parents; and siblings-Harold Eull, Isabel Eull, Veronica Becker, Elmer Eull, Eleanor Zachman, Adeline Kirchberg, and Raymond Eull.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, June 3, 2024 at 11:00 am, Church of St. Michael in St. Michael, MN. Interment will follow at the St. Michael Cemetery with Military Honors.
Visitation will be held Sunday, June 2, 2024 from 4 to 8 PM, with prayer service at 7 PM, at Peterson Chapel, St. Michael/Albertville Funeral Home in St. Michael. Visitation one hour prior to Mass at church.
