Clarence Flikkema Obituary
Clary was born on April 10, 1946, in the Netherlands to Lloyd and Frieda (Esselink) Flikkema. The family moved to Churchill, MT in 1949. After moving to Churchill, MT he attended Manhattan Christian School. Following high school, Clary proudly served as a part of the U.S. Army during Vietnam. He was proud to be a Vet and remained patriotic throughout his life. Clary loved putting flags on everything he could.
He married Joyce Kamps on June 7, 1968, and together they lived on the Family Farm where they raised their three children.
He worked on the Family Farm (LF Dairy) and also enjoyed driving truck part of the time. He always exemplified what it meant to work hard. Outside of work, he was an Elder and Deacon at Bethel Christian Reformed Church as well as a member of the school board for Manhattan Christian School.
He loved to go for rides in his Corvette or on his Harley. He also loved to fish and spend time chatting with the many new people that crossed his path. Every time he met someone new he made a friend.
Clary is preceded in death by his parents and parents-in-law as well as his son-in-law, Ryan Carlson.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Joyce; his children Amy (Christopher) Foster; Children-Isaiah, CJ, Myles, Teagan, Jill Carlson; Children-Anika, Austin, Bridger, Cierra, and David (Jackie) Flikkema; Children-Dylon and Harlee; siblings, Liz, Gary (Bev), Stanley (Susan) and Ted (Tami); as well as many nieces and nephews that adored him along with other family and friends.
A Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 23 from 1 to 3 P.M. at Dokken-Nelson. A Graveside Service with Military Honors will take place at Churchill Cemetery on Monday, November 24 at 10 A.M. A Memorial Service will follow at 11 A.M. at Bethel Christian Reformed Church.
