Clarence "Jack" O. Sampson

Clarence "Jack" O. Sampson Clarence "Jack" O. Sampson, age 86, of Rock Falls, died Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at CGH Medical Center in Sterling with his children present. Jack was born March 10, 1934 near Iuka the son of Orville and Elizabeth (McDaneld) Sampson. He married Beverley Hunter on September 22, 1957. She preceded him in death on March 17, 2011. Jack served in the US Army and later was employed at Northwestern Steel and Wire in Sterling for 30 years. After retirement, they moved to Florida, he worked at a grocery store, then delivered bait shrimp and was a security guard at Bonita Bay. Jack enjoyed motorcycle riding, traveling, and fishing with his wife. He was a member of the Florida Moose where he was a former President of his district. He is survived by two daughters, Tammy (George) Latchford and Jewel (Larry Standard) Rolen both of Sterling; one son, Jim (Terrie Ann) Sampson of Harmon; two sisters, Anna Snow of Iuka and Della Bumgarner of Kinmundy; one brother, Richard (Patty Hartley) Sampson of Salem; eight grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; one brother, Coy Sampson; three sisters, Ruby Cox, Dorothy Bumgarner and Frances Cripps; and his mother-in-law, Ruby A. Jones. Visitation will be Monday, December 28, 2020 from 9:30 – 11:00 AM at the McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls. A private funeral with military honors will follow. Masks and social distancing will be enforced. The funeral will be live streamed to the McDonald Funeral Home Facebook page on Monday at 11:00 AM. There will not be a graveside service.
