It is with deep sorrow that the family of Dr. Clarence McCullough Jr., a proud U.S. Navy veteran and devoted family man, announce his peaceful passing on Veterans Day, Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at the age of 91. His passing on this esteemed day is a fitting tribute to his life of dedication and service to his country and community. Clarence, known affectionately to friends and family as "Mac" or "Doc," was born November 6, 1934, in Belle Vernon, a son of the late Clarence McCullough Sr. and Helen Walkush McCullough. He was one of eight children. A proud patriot, Mac served his country with honor in the United States Navy. Following his military service, he pursued his passion for baseball, playing semi- professional ball for a few years. Clarence was a lifelong learner, earning his undergraduate degree from California State Teachers College, his master's degree from Duquesne University, and his Doctor of Education from the University of Pittsburgh. On August 18, 1963, Clarence married the love of his life, Sophia Agoris McCullough, sharing over 62 years of marriage and building a beautiful family together in Houston. Mac dedicated his professional life to education as a long-time teacher, principal of Houston Middle School, and then retired as the assistant to the superintendent from the Chartiers- Houston School District. Through his various roles, he influenced the lives of many students over the years with his dedication and guidance. He further shared his love for the game of baseball as the assistant varsity coach for Chartiers-Houston. An avid sports fan, Mac passionately followed the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pirates, and Penguins. His hobbies included golf, bowling, and reading. Clarence always had a smile and was up for adventure. He cherished traveling the world with his wife, Sophia. Above all, Mac cherished his family. He is survived by his devoted wife, Sophia; their two children, Kathy McCullough-Testa and Shawn McCullough; and his son-in-law, Gregory Testa. His presence, warmth, and dedication to his loved ones will be profoundly missed. Visitation will take place from 12 until the time of funeral services at 1 p.m. Friday, November 21, in All Saints Greek Orthodox Church, 601 West McMurray Road, Canonsburg.
