Coach was a dear friend and we spoke often. His sudden passing has left me so sad to have not been able to say goodbye. I´ve never met a man who was closer to God and so I know he´s in Heaven now. He taught me so much yet often would claim I taught him things. He sincerely loved to help kids improve their skills to become the best they could be. I´ve never met a more devoted coach who didn´t let the world influence his coaching, he only focused on pleasing God. I miss coach and hope to meet him again someday.

It saddens my heart to reflect on the passing of Coach Mitchell. Coach was instrumental in so many young men's lives. I never recall him being unnecessarily angry, a rare trait in youth coaches. The smile that Coach Mitchell would throw around when someone finally "got it" - a kind man.
I remember the drills, I remember the smiles, I remember the love. I hope his surviving family will find honor in how Coach Mitchell coached, loved the Lord, and loved the people he was around.
Heaven's team just got a bit better.

Coach Mitchell left a lasting impact on me and was my favorite youth coach. He was funny, unique, fair, but most importantly a great teacher. I still remember the voicemails he would leave on our answering machine letting us know a game was cancelled/practice postponed /etc. "Micah.....(long pause)....Coooooooooaaaaaach Mitchell here.....".

I am saddened to hear of his passing. May he rest in peace

Like many I was fortunate enough to be coached by the one and only "Coach". Although it was only for a couple years in my youth at the JCC he has left me with many fond memories and I am saddened to hear of his passing.

To Joshua and all of Coach´s family, we are so sad for your loss. We have many happy memories of Coach and Joshua at CHPC: baseball clinics, Sunday mornings and good conversations about your dear family, faith and life. You and your family were his pride and joy. He served our Lord and people well with joy, friendship, influence and delight and. We will miss him.

With condolences for the family - Coach provided encouragement to everyone he encountered, including myself and my boys. A life well lived was his.

I am so sorry to hear of Coach Mitchell's passing.
While at CHPC we became pretty good friends. He was a fun person to be around. And as a retired Navy Commander, he was rightfully proud of his son, who was master chief of the Naval Reserve.

Mitch was a kind, soft-hearted man who gave so much of himself to others. His positive attitude, his smile and laughter will remain in our hearts. When he spoke of his children, his eyes would beam.... he was so proud of them.

He was well versed in the Bible and we spent hours discussing scriptures. There´s no doubt in my mind whatsoever that he is not walking with our Savior in total awe and peace, enjoying the place God created for him. For his family we pray for strength and healing of your hearts. He was truly loved by us.

I'll never forget when Coach Mitchell took us down to Over the Rhine to play a game. It was a game I will never forget and a humbling experience. He was a great coach in baseball and life. We lost a good one. RIP Coach!

I remember Clarence from our days as students at Xavier University in the late 1960's. I was a member of the marching band and Clarence was the drum major. He led the band with vigor and style. We reconnected several years ago when I would see him on occasion at the Groesbeck Public Library when he was there with one of his children. I never saw him without a big smile on his face which was indicative of his personality. May God bless and protect him today and forever.
