Clarence Murray Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Phillips Funeral Home on Dec. 6, 2025.
Clarence William Murray, Jr., 80, of Paragould, passed away on December 5, 2025. He was born October 22, 1945, in Paragould, to Clarence William and Pearl (Hyde) Murray.

He was a skilled truck driver. His work was not just a means of livelihood but a source of pride and fulfillment. Clarence's passion for the outdoors was evident in his love for hunting and fishing. These moments of quiet reflection were the ones he treasured most, providing him a break from the rigors of daily life. A man who could never sit idle, Clarence was always on the move. Whether baling hay or mowing yards, he took on tasks with enthusiasm. His hands, often stained and rough from labor, were a symbol of his commitment to hard work and his ability to tackle any challenge with determination. Animals held a special place in Clarence's heart, especially his beloved dogs. They were not just pets but his companions and friends.

Clarence was preceded in death by his parents; mother-in-law, Goldie Hendley; siblings, Raymond Murray, Gaylon Murray, Leon "Bud" Murray, Ray Murray, Geraldine (Murray) Buck, Wilma (Murray) Hooks (Dallas); three nephews, Tommy Murray, Dallas (Duke) Hooks, and Larry Don Hooks; and son-in-law, Alan Riggins.

Clarence is survived by his wife, Sandy Murray; daughter, Tammy Riggins; son and daughter-in-law, Chad and Whitney Murray; sister, Faye Hill; brother, Charlie Murray (Linda); grandsons, Harlan and Kirk Murray; granddaughters, Addie, Allie, and Tasha Riggins; and many special nieces, nephews, and friends.

The family will receive friends Monday, December 8, from 10:30 a.m. until service time at Phillips Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 12:30 p.m. with Kevin Murray officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Knot Cemetery.

Wade Murray, Kerry Murray, Tony Grage, Mark Freeman, Michael Kimble, and Cody Pearson will serve as pallbearers. Curtis Eaton, Joe Bateman, Brian Foster, and Dylan Barnhill will serve as honorary pallbearers.
