Clarence Zahrobsky Obituary

Clarence "Clem" E. Zahrobsky, 90, of Delmont, passed away Friday, April 4, 2025. He was born on May 20, 1934, in Delmont, the son of the late Ernest and Anna (Herzog) Zahrobsky. In addition to his parents, Clem was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Patty (Werts) Zahrobsky, who he met at Greensburg High School and shared his love of racing, traveling, and Corvettes. Following graduation, Clem worked as a lab technician for Westinghouse R&D. During his 43-year career, he was awarded numerous patents for projects such as the Space Shuttle and silicon wafers that made computers possible today. Following his passion for cars and racing, Clem owned Performance Engineering, which provided the Western PA racing community with motors, parts, and his expert opinions and advice. On a larger scale, Clem built motors for NASCAR that ran in the 1979 Daytona 500. As an ambassador for the National Corvette Museum, a lifetime member of the Western PA Corvette Club, and owner of many one-of-a-kind Chevrolets, his Global Wide VetteHeads group always respected his solicited and unsolicited advice during their weekly Zoom calls and annual group meetings in Carlisle. After enjoying decades of racing cars, go-carts, snowmobiles, motorcycles, and quads, all he needed was cable and internet to immerse himself in his passion from his recliner. Clem will be sadly missed by his son, Clay (Julie) Zahrobsky. Clem was a proud grandfather of Max Zahrobsky, Amy (Brett) White; and great-granddaughter, Saylor Jae White. As a lifelong Corvette enthusiast, Clem was a proud supporter and ambassador of the National Corvette Museum. In lieu of flowers, and to honor his legacy, the family asks for donations to be made in Clem's memory to the National Corvette Museum, a 501c3 nonprofit. Gifts can be made online at <https://www.corvettemuseum.org/support/> (please add "in memory of Clem Zahrobsky" in the additional notes section). Gifts can also be mailed to National Corvette Museum, c/o Development Department, 350 Corvette Drive, Bowling Green, KY 42101, with Clem Zahrobsky in the memo line. Family and friends will be received from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at the VAIA FUNERAL HOME INC., 463 Athena Drive, Delmont, (724-468-1177).
