Clarice Thompson, age 85, of Blakely, GA, passed away Saturday, January 18, 2025, at the home of her daughter, Renee Shingler.
Funeral services for Mrs. Thompson will be held on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at 12:00 noon at the Chapel of Coggins Funeral Home in Thomaston, Georgia with Rev. Steve Blackston officiating. Interment will follow in Crystal Hill Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 11:15 AM prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mrs. Thompson was born in Butler, GA on September 14, 1939, to Felton and Mary Hammock Blackston. She earned a Bachelors Degree and worked as a regional manager for Express Personel in the employment industry. Mrs. Thompson loved gardening, taking care of her plants, and watching hummingbirds. Canning and gathering with family and friends for fish fries were pastimes that she greatly enjoyed. Her love for singing and her family and friends was immense. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, as well as a dedicated member of her church, Mountain View Baptist. Mrs. Thompson was affectionately known as "Mama C".
She leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Renee Shingler and husband Ronny and Michael Watson; her grandchildren, Rachael Holloman and husband Tommy and Ryan Shingler and wife Katy; as well as great grandchildren, Emma and Aubrey Holloman and Reed and Avery Shingler. Also surviving are her brother, Rusty Blackston and wife Marlene and family and sister, Vera Ellington and family; as well as beloved family members, Paul Watson and wife Janie and family, Mark Thompson and family, and Paul Thompson and family.
