Clarissa (Chris) Joyce Dull, RN: d.o.b. : November 13, 1949 ; died: August 12, 2025
Clarissa ( Chris) Joyce Scarnati Dull (75 years old), born in Allegheny County, Pittsburgh, PA on November 13, 1949, tragically died on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, after bravely fighting a debilitating surgery from which she never recovered.
Clarissa Joyce Scarnati Dull, lovely lady and commendable, loving registered nurse, residing in Castleton, VA and also in Venice, FL, shall be forever cherished by her beloved husband, Forest Houston Dull, his loving family, and Chris's loving family (most residing in Pittsburgh, PA and nearby regions). Both families are stricken with overwhelming grief as Chris departed this world too early in life but understand our heavenly Father has called Chris home, ending her ongoing pain and suffering.
Chris, third daughter of the late Sophie Emily Kebernick Scarnati and the late Alfred Patrick Scarnati, is a brilliant jewel of Scarnati family, especially as cherished, beloved sister of eight siblings and their families: Richard Alfred [Dr. Rick]; Alfred Robert [Bob] and wife Barbara Ann; Vivian Anne Margaret and betrothed Raymond Joseph Ben David; the late Linda Jane and her late husband LeRoy [Lee], the late Gilbert Bruce Francis [Dr. Gil]; the late (baby) Edward Raymond [Eddie]; Gloria Eileen; and Paul Gregory and wife Donna. Chris was also blessed with loving nephews: Russell Ashton, Louis Lee [her Godson], Michael Anthony, and Brandon James; and loving nieces: Maria Claudia, Kathy Ann, Jennifer Lynn, Kimberly Ann; several great-nephews, great-nieces; and their families.
After degrees received from academic, clerical, and medical studies at colleges and universities, Chris initially worked in her progressing career within the DoD in Crystal City, VA, in addition to federally-funded government firms as the Columbia Research Corporation, Arlington, VA. Subsequently inspired by her two medical-profession brothers (Dr. Rick and Dr. Gil), Chris entered medical realm after college studies, earning a Registered Nursing degree. Chris worked at several medical facilities, leading to Inova Fairfax Hospital, Fairfax, VA, (e.g., as Registered Nurse in Geriatrics, and as Forensic Nurse in Hospital's Psychiatric unit). Nurse Clarissa was greatly loved by the elderly, especially those gravely ill requiring special, genuinely-caring service, in addition to patients requiring loving, specialized care in the Psychiatric unit. Nurse Clarissa was highly proficient, giving expert nursing care to those blessed to benefit from her genuine concern of their physical needs, in addition to her encouragement, support, and uplifting of spirit.
Chris was exceptionally generous and gracious in multiple ways – a loving wife, loving sister to siblings, relatives, and friends to whom she infused joy, solace, and loving support. One of God's radiant angelic women on earth, Chris demonstrated good understanding of difficult conditions having clear perception and unwavering faith, exemplified by her virtuous character. Her commendable attributes, in addition to her medical and professional skills, helped countless people in physical, emotional, and spiritual need. Already greatly and sorely missed, she will always be remembered for her generous, gracious, and loving nature.
Chris's beautiful character was fostered by her strong Christian faith and patriotism lived throughout her life, learned from her loving mother and her U.S. Army, WWII Veteran father who had two tours of duty, the second service during WWII. Chris's mother, Sophie Emily, read the Bible nightly to her children, teaching the importance of GOD's Holy Scriptures in living life and trusting in His infinite mercy and goodness, especially in times of trouble and separations by war.
Chris was more than a sister to her siblings as she was often there to listen, help, understand giving motherly love when needed. Younger siblings in the family benefited greatly from her wise counsel as all family members were touched with her loving nature and devotion to her family.
A special note to you, beautiful Chris, now in God's infinite, loving care:
Your beloved husband, cherished family, loving friends, business associates, medical patients, and the countless who know and love you, dearest Chris, resound anguished grief caused by your sudden departure from this earthly sphere. We shall always miss you until we meet again as God ordains in Heaven. And as our Heavenly Father knows, we grieve this tantamount loss of your angelic presence in this world - your angelic heart was always ready to help those in need – a comforting word, a shoulder to cry on, a strong hand to help, and a gracious, generous heart giving freely in many venues as well as family: church, community, hospitals, nursing homes, and more. Your heavenly spirit exemplifies practice of GOD's theological virtues, Faith, Hope and Love.
Time shared with you brought joy to our families and all who knew you, whether at home parties, family picnics, church functions, or just having wonderful heart-to-heart talks. Happy occasions are sealed in unbreakable stone - just as you encouraged and helped family members in multiple skills, including your expert baking and wonderful cooking – sharing your wonderful talents with others, such as gardening and artful design. You have also been a caring mother to a plethora of kittens, cats, and other little animals fortunate to have your daily care, taking special care of their needs. And always giving amazing names as Dudley, Scorpio, Cutie Pie, Linus, Isis, Bunny Boo, and other darling namesakes. You even named Vivian's fine-striped golden kitten Midas – immediately when seeing him.
Thank you for always being there, dearest Chris, for your loving support and all you've done in this world requiring volumes of testimonials. Thank you for genuinely caring, being a safe harbor in the storm, a motherly haven to mend broken hearts, - all these things and more - you are.
God sadly watched your suffering and has called you home. Chris, you truly love the Holy Scriptures and God's Sacred Word - always affirming, with faith cemented, staunchly unequivocally, His truths for this world and next. And as our Savior and Redeemer Jesus hath spoken, "I am the resurrection and the life: whoever believes in Me, though he should die, will come to life; and whoever is alive and believes in Me will never die." (John 11:25-26)
And now you have been spirited up into God's Heavenly Realm and Loving Arms, forever, for the Word of the Lord is Truth:" This is what the Lord God says: 'I, Myself, will search for My sheep and take care of them.' " (Ezekiel 34:11). Assuredly as God had placed His bow in the sky as His sign of His loving covenant (Genesis 9:11-17), remember that "God always keeps His Promises." And as Lord Jesus hath said: "I am the Good Shepherd. I know My sheep and Mine know Me" (John: 10:14), in Psalm 23 the Good Shepherd's promise speaks of life after death: "The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. . . and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever."
