On Friday, April 26, 2024, beloved husband, father and friend, Claude Calvert Coaker of Tibbie, passed away at the age of 75. Born to Lloyd and Ruby Coaker in Fruitdale, on June 15, 1948, he was the oldest of five children. He graduated from Fruitdale High School. Claude joined the Marine Corp in late 1960s and proudly served his country in Vietnam War where he earned the Cross of Gallantry as well as several additional honors. He worked at U.S. Amines for 39 years, retiring in 2013. His hobbies included fishing, turkey hunting, and watching the Game Show Network. He loved spending time with friends and family, listening to music, particularly bluegrass and gospel, and singing at church. He also enjoyed playing cards, dominoes, and board games; especially when he won.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lloyd; his mother, Ruby; and his wife, Edna.
Claude is survived by his second wife, Elouise; children Chris (Regina) and Lorie (Courtney); grandchildren Josh (Lauren) and Olivia; great grandchildren Bennett and Parker; siblings Aaron (Linda), James (Winona), Johnny, and Betty Jo (Ray); nephew Randy (Melinda) and niece Charlotte (Jon); great nephews Drake, Hunter, Jon Houston, and Dawson; as well as great niece Lauren.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, April 30, 2024 at Tibbie Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral service begins at 11:00 a.m. with Bro. Woodie Baugh officiating. Interment will follow in Tibbie Baptist Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Scottie Akridge, Devin Akridge, Harold Sellers, Jon Houston Warr, Dawson Coaker, and Dwight Parnell.
