Claude Ray Sowell, Sr., born on April 17, 1942, passed away peacefully on February 14, 2026. A devoted family man and a respected professional in the maintenance industry, Claude dedicated his life to both his career and the simple joys that brought meaning and fulfillment to his days.

Claude enjoyed a fulfilling career in industry maintenance, earning the admiration of colleagues and friends alike for his hard work and commitment. Having retired, he embraced his passions with renewed vigor. He loved hunting and fishing, finding peace and connection with nature during these quiet pursuits. Traveling was another cherished interest, allowing Claude to explore new places and create lasting memories.

Among his greatest pleasures were the Saturday mornings spent sharing coffee and breakfast with friends. He valued the conversations, companionship, and the simple act of gathering. It was in these moments that Claude’s warmth and genuine interest in people shone most brightly. His ability to engage openly and meaningfully made him a beloved figure in his circle.

Claude Ray Sowell, Sr. is survived by his children, Deborah Barton and Claude Sowell, Jr., who carry forward his legacy with pride. He is also mourned by his brother, Robert, and sister, Clara (Nadine), who shared in the milestones of life with him. His granddaughter, Brittney, and four great-grandchildren remember him with love and affection, reflecting the deep family ties he cherished.With many nieces and nephews he loved so dearly. 

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ann Sowell, whose memory remained close to his heart throughout his life.

Claude embraced life’s simple pleasures with sincerity and joy. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, dedication, and an appreciation for the moments that truly matter. His presence will be deeply missed, but the memories he leaves will continue to inspire those who were fortunate to know him.
