Claudia Ann Graney Best was born in Denver, Colorado on November 19, 1936 and died in Albuquerque, New Mexico on Wednesday, November 19, 2025 at the age of 89.
She was preceded in death by her husband Philip Best; parents Daniel Graney and Wilhelmina Graney; stepdaughters: Gayle McKay, Shelly Kizer; and daughter Candy Best.
She is survived by brother Charles Graney; daughter Phyllis (Raymond) Blair; son Paul (Kimberly) Best and their children: Danielle (Urijah), Justin (Allison), and Joshua, stepdaughter JoAnne, stepson Philip (Aurora) and his children: Zachariah (Lacy), Joshua (Pearlie), stepson Michael (Venus), stepdaughter Dawn, and many grandchildren, great- and great-great-grandchildren.
Her generosity unmatched, she was a Girl Scout leader for many years, and loved to bake and make candy to give away at Christmas. She was also a very accomplished, self-taught seamstress. She lived with Phil in New Mexico for 66 years, moving to Capitan in 2000 because they loved how beautiful it was.
She was a member of Angus Church of the Nazarene in Angus, NM for 25 years.
Mrs. Best will be laid to rest on Saturday, November 29, 2025, at 11:30 a.m. at Angus Cemetery located at 200 Bonita Park Rd, Angus, NM 88316. A Celebration of Life will be held on December 13, 2025, at 11:00AM at Angus Church located at 103 Bonita Park Rd, Agnus, NM 88316.
