Claudia DeRoin, 79, passed from this life on Thursday, May 1, 2025, in the home with family surrounding her.
Claudia was born on October 11, 1945, in Crow Agency, Montana to Claude Rowland and Beatrice (Horn) Rowland. She was raised in Lame Deer, Montana and attended the St Labre Indian Catholic School in Ashland, Montana. Claudia graduated high school at sixteen years old. After high school Claudia went to college. She met Herman DeRoin and they got married in Lovell, Wyoming.
She moved to the Hominy area with her new husband and started a family. They had two sons and two daughters. Claudia went to work for the Osage tribe as a teacher in the Head Start program and then became a PRT Monitor for the tribe.
Claudia was very active in the Hominy War Mothers and St Joseph’s Catholic Church in Hominy, where she enjoyed teaching Bible School. She loved playing Bingo, reading books on mysteries. Claudia loved going back to Montana, being with family. She enjoyed the old 50’s and 60’s music; old bands, the Beatles, and old country. Claudia enjoyed watching Perry Mason and Matlock.
Claudia DeRoin was survived by her daughter Maria DeRoin and son Joel DeRoin; Laura Buck and Curtis DeRoin; brothers Dr James Rowland and Dr Frank Rowland; sister Dr Anna Rowland; 11 grandchildren Denver Eaves, Joseph Eaves, Haven DeRoin, Gracelynn DeRoin, Joshua Greyeyes, Anthony Gray, Paul Gray, Alyssa Greyeyes, Latisha Buck, Honey Buck and Marcus Buck; 10 great grandchildren Noah Gray, Roland Gray, Jaylan Gray, Jeremiah Johnson, Landon Greyeyes, Avery Buck, Madison Buck, Marlee Buck, Cameron Buck and Hank Buck. She is preceded in death by her husband Hermon M. DeRoin, her son Herman A. DeRoin, her daughter Stacy Bruton, her parents Claude and Beatrice Rowland, her brother Ted Rowland, sisters Pearl Rowland and Joslyn Rowland.
Funeral services for Claudia DeRoin will be May 5, 2025, at 10:00 AM at St Joseph’s Catholic Church with burial to follow at A J Powell Memorial Cemetery. Arrangements made by Powell Funeral Home, Hominy, Oklahoma.
