Claudia Hargis-Grover
September 8, 1962 - November 1, 2025
Claudia Hargis-Grover, age 63, passed away unexpectedly as the result of a car accident on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady, NY.
Born at Glens Falls Hospital on September 8, 1962, Claudia was the daughter of the late Ellen Sheehan Munger Dyer and James Albert Dyer. She graduated from South Glens Falls High School and went on to earn her nursing degree from BOCES.
Claudia devoted her life to caring for others. She worked as a registered nurse at Glens Falls Hospital for many years and later served as a Health Occupations and Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Clinical Instructor in the BOCES LPN Program for nearly 15 years. Teaching and mentoring future nurses and CNAs brought her immense pride and joy. She loved watching her students grow-both academically and professionally-and took great satisfaction in seeing them thrive in their careers.
Claudia never met a stranger. Her warmth, humor, and infectious laugh touched everyone she encountered-whether at the bedside, in the classroom, or in daily life.
She is survived by her daughters, Jennifer Hargis of South Glens Falls, NY, Katie Grover, and Laura Grover both of Glens Falls, NY; her beloved grandchildren, Bella, Liam, Jordan, Cami, and Jamari; and her siblings, Margaret Tripp (Dean) of Argyle, NY; Marcia Shobe (Andrew) of Fayetteville, AR; Paul Dyer (Barbara) of Syracuse, NY; and Jimmy Dyer of South Glens Falls, NY. She is also survived by her nephews, Dean "DJ" Tripp (Rachel) of Rochester, NY, and Adam Tripp of Argyle, NY, as well as her cousins Julie, Leslie, Laura, Andy, Bobby, Paula, Maureen, Stephen, and Patty.
She was predeceased by her parents; her cherished cousins, Ellen Kobor and Paul Plott; her former partner Tim Monteena; and many beloved grandparents, aunts, and uncles.
Claudia loved spending time with her family-especially her grandchildren, who were the light of her life. She treasured cousin get-togethers and "garage sale" adventures with her sister Margaret, where she had an uncanny ability to find hidden treasures and share endless laughter.
Claudia will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her compassion, strength, and joyful spirit will live on forever in the hearts of her family, friends, colleagues, and students.
Family and friends are invited to call on a date and time to be announced at M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 136 Main Street, South Glens Falls, NY 12803. At Claudia's request, her family will gather privately to celebrate her life and spread her ashes in a place she loved.
Memorial donations in Claudia's memory can be made to WSWHE BOCES, c/o Health Occupations, 15 Henning Road, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.
