CLAUDIA MANN Obituary

CLAUDIA MANN Claudia Lillian (Hurt) Mann, aged 97 years, was born on January 3, 1927, in Tishomingo, Oklahoma, to Roy H. Hurt and Maggie Lillian (Tate) Hurt. She passed away on December 12, 2024, in Wichita, Kansas. Former resident of Garden City, Kansas. Claudia was married to Ira J. Mann Jr. for 79 years and 2 months. She was a devoted mother to Jay, Gregory, and John. Claudia was also a proud, loving grandmother to her six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Claudia was one of seven children. She was a graduate of Coleman High School (Class of 1943) and Murray State College (Class of 1945), in Tishomingo, Oklahoma. She worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone for many years. After her sons were grown, she worked as a substitute teacher and a Title 2 reading para-professional in Garden City, Kansas. Claudia was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Alex, Oklahoma. She was also a member in good standing of the Daughters of the American Revolution. For years, Mrs. Mann was a Sunday School teacher and youth leader in the United Methodist Churches of Long Island, Colby, and Garden City, Kansas. She was proud of the accomplishments of her three sons and her grandchildren. Her joy for life and her love of family and friends made her an inspiration to those who knew her and they will greatly mourn her passing. Left to cherish Claudia's memory is her husband, Ira J. Mann Jr., her sons, Jay Michael Mann and wife Terry of Bel Aire, Kansas, Gregory Ray Mann and wife Brenda of Manhattan, Kansas, and Dr. John Bryan Mann and wife Connie of Valley Center, Kansas, her grandchildren, Kale Mann and wife Charli, Keira Solon and husband Zack, Lara Mann, Kai Mann and wife Erin, Klaire Brumbaugh and husband Will, and Austin Mann and wife Becka, her great grandchildren Joseph, Allison, and Weston Mann, Ira and Harlan Solon, Ashlynn and Tate Mann, and Ava Brumbaugh, as well as several devoted nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Claudia is preceded in death by her parents, Roy H. Hurt and Maggie Lillian (Tate), her infant siblings, her brothers, Hambel Hurt and Irton Hurt, her sister, Fern Nail, her foster sons, Dexter Eugene Redburn and Timothy Blaine Clinton, her brothers-in-law Ray Mann, Ben Nail, and Richard Wayne Mann, her sisters-in-law Geraldine (Denson) Mann and Billie (Hurt) Trice. A public viewing for Claudia will be held on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, from 1:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Wilbourn Family Funeral Home in Alex, Oklahoma. A funeral service to honor the life of Claudia will be held Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at 10:00 A.M. at the First United Methodist Church of Alex, Oklahoma. She will be laid to rest following the service at the Bradley Cemetery in Bradley, Oklahoma. Pastor Guy Helgermon of Alex United Methodist Church will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, Claudia's family requests that donations be made in her name to Bradley Community Center, Bradley Cemetery, or Alex First United Methodist Church. Services are under the direction of Scott and Angel Wilbourn of Wilbourn Family Funeral Home in Alex, Oklahoma. Condolences may be made to the family online at www.wilbournfamilyfuneralhome.com
